Teaching Online Safety
For online safety lessons, we utilise resources from Project Evolve.
Project EVOLVE resources each of the 330 statements from UK Council for Internet Safety’s (UKCIS) framework “Education for a Connected World” with perspectives; research; activities; outcomes; supporting resources and professional development materials.
The content has been written by a team of experts at the UK Safer Internet Centre. It is up to date; relevant and engaging and moves online life education into the third decade of the 21st century. The short video below explains the 8 Strands as well as highlighting some resources and approaches we use.
Project Evolve
Each half term at Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge CE Primary School, there will be focused lessons regarding online safety as part of our PSHE and computing lessons. Of course, it goes without saying, that online safety is ongoing and is addressed throughout all subjects when appropriate or when issues arise.
Please see the overview below which shows which areas we will be focusing on each half term.
National Online Safety
Each Wednesday, the National Online Safety Centre produces a new guide for parents to share information about different apps or websites, that children are using. These guides explain what the purpose of the app or website is, how it works and how to add security features. We publish these weekly updates every Friday in our school newsletter.
