We are delighted to announce that we have again achieved the School Games Gold Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year. The School Games Mark is a Government led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school and into the community, and we are delighted to have been recognised for our success.
We participated in 42 different competitions during the year. Our sporting achievements this year include winning the Year 5/6 Boys Crossbar Cup, the Year 5/6 Girls Crossbar plate, our swimmers representing the school at the County Swimming Gala and English Schools Swimming Relays, coming second in Telford & Wrekin in the cross country schools competition, second in the U11 County Hockey competition and teams progressing through to the Shropshire Winter and Summer Games to represent T&W Burton Borough in hockey, cross country, orienteering and dodgeball.
With a total of 124 (over 56%) children competing in local, regional and national inter-school competitions this year, we are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport.
A special thanks to Mrs Bletcher for all her work behind the scenes in liaising with Telford & Wrekin Sports Partnership and accompanying the children to so many of the competitions. Thank you also the parents who get the children to events and support them and of course to the children for their enthusiasm and great sportsmanship.
