Farewell Mr Laundon & Mrs Lewis
At the end of the summer term, we will be saying goodbye to Mrs Lewis, our Year 3 class teacher and Mr Laudon our Year 4 class teacher.
Mrs Lewis has been offered an exciting new opportunity in another school. She has supported our children in so many ways. However, she will be remembered for her contribution to our creative curriculum, especially her extensive musical knowledge which has underpinned our new music curriculum.
Mr Laundon is going to take on a new challenge next year. He has brought a passion for science and P.E. that have inspired us all.
We wish them both all the very best in their future endeavours.
Sport News – Year 5/6 Rounders Tournament – Monday 12th June
Some children from Years 5 and 6 played in a Rounders tournament at Charlton School. Olivia H, Xander, Henry, Imogen, Jenson, Luke, Emmie, Daisy, Isla, Benjamin, Brad, Poppy H, Poppy T and Hannah represented Coalbrookdale. We travelled by minibus and Mrs Clements and Mrs Graham supported us on the trip. We played in Pool A, one of the three pools. At first, we were a bit unsure of some of the rules, but as the games progressed, we got stronger and stronger. Despite the extremely warm weather, there were some great bats and full rounders from all players, and we managed to stay cool under trees in the shade. We won a game against Meadows and came 4th in our pool overall. Afterwards, we played some friendlies against the other schools. Overall, we had a really fun day and worked together as a team.
Daisy and Isla (Year 6)
Special thanks to Mrs Clements for all her help and support.

Bat Boxes
In February some Year 4 children worked with T&W Green Spaces to decorate bat boxes. These have now been installed in Dale End Park and can be found in trees mainly along the river.

Year 5 – Street Champions
As part of their Decay and Recycling work in Science this term, Year 5 went litter picking with T&W Council and have earned a T&W Street Champions Award! Well done Year 5. Thank you to the parents who came along to join us.

Duplo
We are trying to offer our younger children a wider range of activities on our playground. If parents have any Duplo they could donate this would be most appreciated.
Water Bottles
Children should bring in a named water bottle to school every day. These should contain water only and are kept in class. Children can have juice in their lunch boxes if they wish. Please do not send your child in with a Prime bottle.

News from the Parish
There will be a special service in school on Sunday 18 June (4.30pm – 5.30pm) to celebrate Fathers’ Day. This will be in the hall at school, with activities and singing, and a break for biscuits and juice. We are hoping that people who have been out during the day will be able to pop in as a lovely end to their weekend.
We welcome all families and all ages to the service. Access will be from up the school drive and to the side of the building. There will be people on hand to signpost the way in.
