Leadership duties at the school: arrangements for this half term
Dear Parents and Carers
Following on from the continued ill health of Mrs Dhaliwal during her pregnancy, Mrs Postance has stepped up to take on leadership duties at the school on a day-to-day basis for the remainder of this term.
This action has been taken in order to add capacity at this time, and in order to facilitate putting things in place for next term, when Mr Wheeler arrives as Deputy Head.
With the return of Miss Walton to school from her maternity leave, we will have an experienced teacher covering Mrs Postance’s class, who will work with teaching staff and the HLTA Mrs Fiona Austin to ensure continuity in that regard. Mrs Postance will be supporting Miss Walton with the hand over and will write the end of term reports for the children in that class.
Mrs Postance has also spoken with all the children of the school about this, via Collective Worship Assembly.
Please be assured that the Local Authority and the Diocese are continuing to work closely with the school and with the Governing Body, in our joint and ongoing efforts to help the children of this school to “live life in all its fullness”.
Thank you
Mrs Lois Dale
On Behalf of the Governing Body

News from the Parish
This Sunday 11th June is St Barnabas Day, which we will celebrate in Family Service at St Luke’s.
The service is from 11am to 12 noon, and will be led by Carilyn Simkin, concluding with refreshments.
Barnabas was from Cyprus, but lived in Jerusalem around the time of the death and resurrection of Jesus. He may even have heard him preach. He became an early apostle, described by St Luke in the Acts of the Apostles as “a good man, full of the Holy Spirit and of faith”.
The name Barnabas actually means “son of encouragement”, and was his nickname, as his given name was Joseph. Barnabas was always encouraging and supporting people, including St Paul.
He travelled with St Paul on several journeys to convert people to Christianity. The journeys will have been long and hot, but journeys of friendship and love.
As our children’s activity within the church, we will therefore be decorating cut outs of sun hats, and thinking about these friendships back in the early church and the friendships we have now.
Children from the school will be very welcome to join us.
There will be a special service in school on Sunday 18 June (4.30pm – 5.30pm) to celebrate Fathers’ Day. This will be in the hall at school, with activities and singing, and a break for biscuits and juice. We are hoping that people who have been out during the day will be able to pop in as a lovely end to their weekend.
We welcome all families and all ages to the service. Access will be from up the school drive and to the side of the building. There will be people on hand to signpost the way in.
