Message to Parents and Carers

I would like to start with a thank you to all staff and families for the way that everyone has pulled together over the last few weeks when I have been unable to be on site very much due to illness. Mrs Postance and I have also been and remain most grateful for the support and understanding of staff and families.

I was sorry to have missed the Year Five Pentecost Service at Holy Trinity Church this week, which I gather from staff and governors was an absolutely wonderful service. Well done to Year Five, and well done to everyone, as Mrs Postance has told me how beautifully all the children behaved and how lovely the singing was as well.

I am pleased to be able to share some news with you, which is that I am expecting a baby in November. I have been extremely poorly in this pregnancy, which is why I have not been able to be in. However, I hope to be able to be back on site more after half term.

I can also now advise that, as part of the work that Mrs Postance and I have been doing with regard to staffing structures for the new academic year, we have made an offer to one of the candidates who applied for the position of Deputy Head/SENDCo. His name is Mr Adam Wheeler, and he has accepted the position. There is work to be done around how this will link in with my impending maternity leave next term, but decisions about the cover arrangements will be made as soon as we can do so during the next half term.

I can assure you all that Mrs Postance and myself will be working with everyone including the Diocese, the LA, and the Governing Body, in order to seek to achieve the best solutions for the children at this school, and to really help all our children to “live life in all its fullness”.

Any queries from parents and carers at this time should continue to please be directed to the School Office, who will liaise with Mrs Postance accordingly. Mrs Postance has been in close contact with me on operational matters during this time and remains so. As per usual practice, queries from parents and carers with regard to their child should continue to be picked up with the class teacher in the first instance.

We will obviously share details around staffing arrangements and transition plans once those decisions have been made.

In the meantime, could I please say a well done to all children for their hard work this half term, to staff and governors for their support, and to you as parents, carers and families for your own support and encouragement to the children of this school. May I wish you all a good half term break.

Mrs Dhaliwal
Head Teacher

Sports News – Year 5/6 Boys Football

Last Friday, the Year 5/6 boys football team played their semi-final match against Captain Webb.  In a tough match, the boys managed a 2-1 victory with goals from Logan and Alfie.  The boys represented the school extremely well and Mrs Ricks and Mr R are very proud of them.

We look forward to the final!

Summer Sunshine

With the warmer weather now here, we would ask that children bring hats (named) in to wear at play times and have sunscreen applied before they come to school as we do not apply sunscreen to children during the day.  We would also ask that children do not wear sunglasses unless there is a medical reason to do so as these are easily broken in the playground.

News from the Parish

This Sunday 28th May, which is Pentecost Sunday, there is a Jesus and Me (JAM) session to coincide with United Holy Communion Service at St. Luke’s Church. The service starts at 11a.m., and children are invited to come into the vestry for the JAM session after the first hymn and prayers.

Reverend Okeke is leading the service, for which the readings are Acts 2:1-21 and John 20:19-23.

We will be learning more about the very first Pentecost, which the children of Year Five have already kindly shared with the rest of the school in the Whole School service at Holy Trinity on Wednesday.

There will be craft activities for the children on this story, involving butterflies to colour in, and some of the different languages in which we can praise God.

The children will then return to the church to share what they have been doing.

We hope that children from the school may join us.

We also have advance notice to say that the next All Ages Service will be held in the school hall at school on Sunday 18th June. It will again be 430pm to 530pm, with a break for juice, biscuits, cake and fruit. There will be singing and craft activities, and the local churches look forward to seeing families there as we celebrate Father’s Day together.
