Homework

Your child will be excited to have received their new homework today.

Following the gathering of pupil, staff and parent voice, we have made some changes to the children’s homework.

Every week your child will be expected to complete Reading, Spelling and Maths homework. Additional to this, they will be set key number facts to learn across the half term.

Many children and families enjoyed the topic-based homework in the autumn term. Teachers have created a range of activities which link to the half-termly topic being taught in class. Again, children will be able to select the ones they would like to complete.

Homework will be handed out each Friday and should be handed back in on a Wednesday.

There is more information in your child’s homework book.

If you have any questions, please speak with your child’s class teacher.

Young Voices 2023

Our experience during Young Voices was amazing! We not only sang with Heather Small, but we also sang with the amazing Beatbox Collective and danced with the fabulous street dancers (Urban Striders). Along with them a rock ‘n roll violinist preformed in front of 8,000 and over adults and 6,514 Young Voices Choir Singers.

What we did to prepare for the concert:

Firstly, (starting in September) we started off with one choir lesson a week but that wasn’t enough, so we had to add another hour session after school. We began to learn our songs-which one of them was called Rockstar.

Where was it and how we got there:

It was in Birmingham, Resorts World. We travelled there on a 1 hour and 30-minute journey by coach. There were so many extraordinary and excellent views and sightings to see on the way there. Whilst in the coach, we played lots of fun games one of them being the shopping game. 1 hour and 30 minutes passed, and we finally arrived at the monstrous, overpowering Resorts World.

What we did when we got there:

When we arrived, we had to stand in a queue and wait to get checked in. Once we had been checked in, we were guided to a space where we could sit and eat our lunches. Whilst eating our lunches, we stopped for a toilet break and more. Then, a worker (who worked there) came and collected us then took us into a humungous room with a big stage just in the centre of us singers and the parents.

The Rehearsal:

When we got seated, we had to begin our 3.5-hour rehearsal! We had to practice our songs. We started with the song Over the Hills. It was a hard song to rehearse because it had Welsh in the song.  We then had many more songs to practice. Along with singing we had to practise our dancing as well with the Urban Striders and Andy Instone.

The Concert:

Finally, the time had come to sing our voices out and perform in the concert. Starting off with Over the Hills followed by many more songs. The last song we sung was the Nile Rodgers disco. The dancers, beatboxers and the violinist were so amazing especially Heather Small! Let us give a big thank you too: all the producers at young voices for letting all this happen and a massive thank you to Mrs Lewis for teaching us all our songs!
