Good News
We are delighted to share the news that Mrs Dhaliwal has had her baby—it’s a girl! We send them our very best wishes.
Staff News
We are pleased to welcome Miss Sophie Ford to Coalbrookdale next week. Miss Ford will be working as a TA in the Year 2 class.
We would like to thank Mrs Walker for all her work, helping us out in Year 2. She will continue to work with us in other classes across school.
Parent/Teacher Meetings
Parent meeting appointments for children in Reception – Year 6 will take place on:
Monday 20 November (3.30pm – 6.30pm)
Monday 27 November (3.30pm – 5.30pm)
Meetings will be face to face in school and last 10 minutes (if additional time is required by the end of the meeting, this will be arranged for another day). It will be an opportunity to discuss how your child has settled in and share your child’s strengths and areas of focus.
Parents can book their appointments via the school website Parents’ Evening – Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge C.E. Primary School (coalbrookdaleschool.org.uk)
Flu immunisation
The flu immunisation (flu spray) will take place next Thursday 16 November.
Please return the completed form to the school office indicating if you do/do not consent to your child having the flu spray by Tuesday 14 November
If you have misplaced the letter, copies are available at the school office.
Breakfast
We have an increasing number of children not having eaten before arriving at school. Children who eat their first meal of the day before school are more engaged with their lessons and can concentrate better. Please ensure your child eats something before school. If you are struggling or need support, please contact us.
Nativity Play (Reception & Year 1)
There will now be two performances of the Christmas Nativity for parents of children in Reception and Year 1. They will take place on Tuesday 19 December at 10.00am & 2.00pm. Letters will be sent home to parents towards the end of November to request tickets for the performances. Tickets are free of charge.
Friends News – Christmas cards
We have had lots of lovely Christmas Card designs coming in. If anyone would like the weekend to work on their design, then they can be handed in to the school office up to 3.20pm on Monday 13 November.
Friends News – Christmas Fair 2023
This year’s Christmas Fair will be held on Friday 24th November from 3.20-5pm.
There will be craft stalls, cakes, hot dogs and mulled wine.
There will be a Bottle Tombola and Father Christmas will be making a special visit.
Children will be singing some Christmas carols and have the opportunity to make a lantern (which can be used at the Ironbridge Light Switch on event the following day!).
We are hoping to have a second-hand Christmas Jumper stall – If you have any donations, please pass them to the office or hand them to Jen or Ruth.
We are asking for donations for the cake stall (any questions please speak to Ania, Jen or Ruth).
If you would like a stall we ask for a £20 donation per table, which all goes to the Friend’s fund for school.
If you can help, please speak to Jen or Ruth.

News from the Parish
This Sunday, there will be a Remembrance Service at St Luke’s Church in Ironbridge, starting at the earlier time of 10:50am.
This is so that everyone is ready for the two-minute silence at 11:00am, to remember the Fallen in the two World Wars and other wars around the world.
The service will finish at 12:00 noon, after which the congregation will go down to the war memorial by the Iron Bridge, for a short act of remembrance there.
In order to involve children in creating their own contribution to the service, we will have a red table set at the side of the church by the play area for younger children. We will be colouring in poppies and name cards for the soldiers from Ironbridge who died in the two World Wars.
The bells in the church tower were installed to remember the people who died in the First World War, whose names are on a plaque in the church. The clock in the tower is lit to remember those who died in the Second World War, whose names are on the war memorial by the Bridge.
We hope that children from the school may join us in this special service of commemoration.
Think before you send
There is a real and growing concern of how many young people find it ok to share inappropriate images online. It is leading to so many becoming vulnerable to potential exploitation, blackmail and harm from a young age, leaving a lasting digital footprint. If you share it, you are involved.
