Message from Mrs Dhaliwal

Dear Parents/Carers

What a fantastic week it has been at Coalbrookdale!

This week we have been recognising Water Safety Week. Throughout the week, classes have taken part in short daily activities focused on the importance of staying safe around water. On Wednesday and Thursday, our Safety Crew led collective worship sessions for both Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2. They did a superb job explaining key water safety messages and helping children understand what they should do if they, or someone else, find themselves in difficulty around water. We are incredibly proud of the confidence and maturity shown by our Safety Crew members.

A huge well done must also go to our Eco Council, who spent this afternoon taking part in a local litter pick alongside Robert, Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge’s community litter picker. The children demonstrated great enthusiasm and a real sense of responsibility as they helped care for our local environment. Their efforts made a positive difference to the local area and reflected our school’s commitment to being active members of the community. We are incredibly proud of their dedication to keeping our local environment clean and helping to make Coalbrookdale a place we can all be proud of.

Our Drama Club has been working tirelessly over the past few months preparing a performance based on the Coalport Ferry Disaster. Yesterday, the children performed in Jackfield and delivered an outstanding performance. The audience of over 150 people were deeply moved by the powerful retelling of this tragic local event. The children’s dedication, confidence and professionalism shone through, and they should be immensely proud of themselves.

I would also like to thank our Choir, who supported the performance with a beautiful song. Their commitment and hard work during rehearsals over recent weeks was evident for all to see.

A special thank you goes to Miss Pearson, who has supported and prepared the children throughout this project. Her hard work and dedication have helped make this experience such a memorable one for everyone involved.

Finally, thank you to all parents and carers for your support in helping children learn and practise their lines at home and for ensuring they were able to attend the performance. Your support plays a vital role in making opportunities such as this possible.

This week also marked National Thank a Teacher Day, and I would like to take this opportunity to express my gratitude to the wonderful staff at Coalbrookdale. Our team know the children exceptionally well and go above and beyond every day to support them academically, socially and emotionally. We are fortunate to have such a dedicated staff team who continually strive to help every child reach their full potential.

I would also like to thank our parents and carers for your ongoing support and communication with school. Working together allows us to provide the very best opportunities and outcomes for all children.

Finally, it would be remiss of me not to mention the excitement surrounding England’s World Cup success this week! There was certainly a real buzz around school on Wednesday and Thursday, with many children eager to discuss the match and celebrate the result. It is always wonderful to see children sharing positive experiences and interests with one another. We look forward to following England’s progress and cheering them on in their next match.

Looking Ahead

The weather forecast suggests that next week will be very warm. Please ensure that children come to school with:

• A named hat
• A named water bottle
• Named sun cream (children should be able to apply this themselves or alternatively it can be applied at home before children come to school)

Please ensure that all items are clearly labelled with your child’s name.

We will continue to monitor temperatures closely throughout the week and will take appropriate measures regarding time spent outdoors. Children will still have opportunities for fresh air, movement and breaks throughout the day, whilst ensuring their safety and wellbeing remain our priority.

Whole School Photo

Next Wednesday (24 June) the school photographer will be in to take a whole school photo.

Children whose class has PE or if they do an after school club, should come to school dressed in their school uniform and bring PE kit with them to change in to.

Book Fair

The book fair will run Monday 29 June – Wednesday 1 July (3.20pm – 3.50pm)

Children will have the opportunity to browse the cases on Friday 26 June.

If you would like to pre- purchase any items from the books fair, this option is available from Friday to Monday until 9.00am. To do this, just scan the QR code (scholastic-qr-png-2032646.pdf ) to access the order and payment page.

Evidence of payment should be brought to the office and then the books can be retrieved from the case before the fair begins.

Any purchases after this time should be made in person at the event.
