Message from Mrs Dhaliwal

Dear Parents and Carers

As we come to the end of another busy and successful half term, I would like to thank you for your continued support. I am sure many of you enjoyed reading our Ofsted report which was shared earlier today and we are incredibly proud of what has been achieved across our school community.

It was an absolute pleasure to take the whole school to the beach yesterday. The children showed impeccable behaviour throughout the trip, and we were so proud to see them demonstrating our school values of being responsible, respectful and compassionate outside of school. They were wonderful ambassadors for Coalbrookdale and should all feel extremely proud of themselves.

We are incredibly proud of everything that has been achieved this half term and the many successes and experiences the children have enjoyed.

As you are aware, on Monday 1 June, the day we return after half term, Coalbrookdale will officially convert to the Diocese of Hereford Multi Academy Trust. This is an exciting milestone for our school, and we will be spending the day celebrating everything that makes Coalbrookdale such a special place to learn and grow.

The Friends have kindly arranged for an ice cream van to visit school at 2pm on Monday 1^t June. Children do not need to bring any money for this treat.

We would also like to hold a small celebratory tea party during the day. Children are welcome to bring in one shop-bought, packaged food item to share as part of the celebration.

Finally, I would like to wish all of our families a safe, restful and enjoyable half term break. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for the next part of the summer term which I am sure will be just as successful.

World Environment Day – Non-Uniform Day

To celebrate World Environment Day on Friday 5th June, children are invited to come to school in non-uniform.

Children are welcome to wear:

• Green clothing
• Camouflage outfits
• Nature-themed costumes

🛠️ Donations from our ‘Friends of the Forest’ equipment wish list or £1

All donations will go towards purchasing new equipment for our Forest School, helping children to explore and learn outdoors.

Thank you for your continued support in helping us care for our environment and enrich our outdoor learning experiences.

Wraparound goes Wild in June

In June, Breakfast Club and After School Club are taking part in The Wildlife Trust 30 Days Wild.  We have exciting activities planned and are looking forward to hearing about how the children like to engage with nature.

Embrace After School Clubs – Summer 2

We are delighted to announce that we will be running a range of exciting after school clubs at Coalbrookdale Primary School this half term, designed to keep children active, engaged, and building new skills.

Our KS2 Summer Sports will take place on Mondays from 3:20 – 4:20pm, each week, pupils will take part in engaging sessions featuring a mix of traditional and summer-inspired games, including races, team challenges, throwing activities, and skill-based exercises.

On Tuesdays from 3:20 – 4:20pm, we will be running our KS1 Summer Sports, a programme designed to help children stay active, build confidence, and enjoy a variety of fun sporting activities.

Our KS2 Cricket Club will run on Wednesdays from 3:20 – 4:20pm, children will take part in fun and engaging sessions focusing on key cricket skills such as batting, bowling, fielding, and game awareness. Through a variety of drills, small-sided games, and match play, pupils will build their technique while also developing teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship in a supportive environment.

All clubs will run for the full half term at a cost of £24.50 per child for all 7 sessions.

These clubs are a fantastic opportunity for children to stay active, develop new skills, and have fun with their friends. Spaces may be limited, so we encourage you to sign up as soon as possible.

Parish News – St Luke’s Church welcome for all, this Sunday 24th May

This Sunday, St Luke’s Church opens its doors to everyone for a service of Holy Communion, starting at 11:00am, as we celebrate Pentecost.

St Luke’s would like to welcome children and families to this service, and to refreshments afterwards.

In our Jesus and Me (JAM) activity for school age children, we will be thinking about how the Holy Spirit came down at Pentecost, when all the disciples started speaking in different languages that everyone there in Jerusalem back on that day could understand.

We know that the main languages then were Aramaic, Latin, and a form of Greek still used in Greek Orthodox churches to this day. Thinking of it being World War Two weekend in Ironbridge Gorge, we will also think of the main languages of those who fought together and against each other: English, French, German, Japanese, Polish and Russian.

The word the children will see and hear translated is the word “Peace”, which they will decorate on cards to show everyone.

This activity will take place at the red activity tables at the side of the church.

There are also books and toys available for younger children to play with in the church.

Community News – Summer Water Safety

The Health Protection Hub at Telford & Wrekin Council have asked us send out some information to you on summer water safety.  With the current hot weather, children, particularly older children, may look to go swimming in open water to cool down and have fun.  This comes with various risks – cold water shock, currents, hidden underwater dangers and diseases such as Weil’s disease. 46% of drownings occur in the summer months and this rises to 75% amongst 13 – 17-year-olds. Educating children on these dangers is important in preventing tragic incidents.
