Attendance Matters – Every Session Counts
As we move into the final term of the academic year, I would like to take this opportunity to remind all parents and carers of the importance of regular school attendance.
We now only have the summer term remaining and this is a crucial time for learning. Key knowledge and skills are being taught to ensure children are fully prepared for the next stage of their education. It is important to understand that learning is not always repeated so when a child misses school, they may miss vital teaching that is difficult to catch up on.
Every session counts. Each morning and afternoon in school provides valuable learning opportunities and consistent attendance makes a significant difference to children’s progress, confidence and wellbeing.
We also ask for your support in ensuring that medical appointments are made outside of school hours wherever possible, unless they are urgent. This helps to minimise disruption to your child’s learning. Please provide details of appointments booked to the school office.
Thank you for your continued support in helping your child attend school regularly and make the most of every learning opportunity.
Rocksteady Concert Celebration
Yesterday, we were delighted to host our very first Rocksteady concert, where children taking part in Rocksteady proudly showcased the songs they have been learning in their bands. We were completely blown away by the incredible skills they have developed in such a short time! From guitars and keyboards to drums and vocals, the range of talent on display was fantastic – we clearly have some future musicians among us.
The rest of the school loved watching their friends perform, and we are all extremely proud of the children for completing their first concert with such confidence and enthusiasm. Well done to everyone involved!
Each child has come home with a letter containing information about Rocksteady. If your child would like to join, please use the details on the leaflet to sign them up. Rocksteady is a wonderful opportunity for children to develop teamwork, listening, and creative skills.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us.

🌍 World Earth Day 🌍
This week, our school proudly celebrated World Earth Day with a creative and meaningful whole‑school project. Each child was invited to bring in one piece of recyclable material from home, which was then used to create a collaborative class artwork. Every class worked together to produce one finished piece, highlighting teamwork, creativity and environmental awareness.
The Eco Council asked that the artwork link to one of the following themes:
- something we need to protect or save
- art showing our world
- something that is precious on our planet
- something our planet is experiencing
The children thoroughly enjoyed exploring these ideas and expressing them through art. It was wonderful to see such thoughtful discussions, imaginative designs and pride in their finished work across all year groups.
We hope you enjoyed seeing the fantastic artwork displayed in the hall this afternoon. Thank you for your continued support in helping us celebrate World Earth Day and promote care for our planet.

SEND Space
Our recent SEND coffee afternoon was a real success and we’d like to thank all the parents and carers who joined us. It was wonderful to see families engaging so positively with Parents Opening Doors (PODS), the School Nurse Team and our local Family Hubs, and to hear the thoughtful conversations taking place. We will include useful links for PODS and Family Hubs in this newsletter so you can explore their support further.
Our next coffee session will take place after half‑term and will focus on helping children transition smoothly between year groups. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Parish News – St Luke’s Church welcome for all, this Sunday 26 April
This Sunday, there will be a service of Holy Communion, starting at 11:00am, at St Luke’s in Ironbridge.
St Luke’s would like to welcome children and families to this service, and to refreshments afterwards.
In our Jesus and Me (JAM) activity for school age children, we will be thinking about Jesus as the Good Shepherd.
This links into the parable He shared about a shepherd and his flock, and to the gospel of St John, in which we read: “ I am the door; anyone who comes into the fold through me shall be safe…I am come that men may have life, and may have it in all its fullness. I am the good shepherd; the good shepherd lays down his life for the sheep”.
There will be colouring and craft activities for school-age children. This will be at the red activity tables at the side of the church.
There are also books and toys available for younger children to play with in the church.
Readings:
1st Reading – Acts of the Apostles 2: verses 42-47
2nd Reading – John 10: verses 1-10
