Message from Mrs Dhaliwal

Dear Parents/Carers

As we come to the final week of the school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their continued support.

A huge thank you goes to the Friends of Coalbrookdale for all of their hard work in preparing for the Summer Fair. Although the main event has had to be postponed due to the hot weather and will now take place at the beginning of the new academic year, we are grateful for the activities that were still able to go ahead. It was lovely to see families enjoying the raffle, selling of tea towels, pre-loved uniform sale and pantry bags after school. We are already looking forward to welcoming everyone back for the full Summer Fair in September.

On Tuesday, our children took part in their transition morning, spending time in their new classrooms, meeting the staff who will be supporting them and getting a taste of what next year will bring. It was wonderful to see the enthusiasm and excitement across the school. These opportunities help children to feel confident and prepared for the next step in their learning journey.

In our collective worship on Monday, we reflected on the theme of moving on. We talked about how change can sometimes feel unsettling because we naturally become comfortable with what we know. However, we also recognised that change often brings new opportunities, helping us to grow, succeed and flourish. As we approach the end of the school year, this felt like a particularly important message for all of us, especially for those children who are preparing for new classes, new schools or new experiences.

I would also like to congratulate all of our children on how well they have coped with the exceptionally high temperatures over the last few days. They have shown great resilience and maturity, continuing to work hard whilst also looking after themselves and each other. Although the forecast suggests slightly cooler weather next week, the days are still expected to be warm. Please continue to send your child to school with a named water bottle and a sun hat so that they are comfortable throughout the day.

Today, your child will be bringing home their end-of-year report. These reports celebrate the progress and achievements your child has made throughout the year, while also identifying their next steps as they move into their new year group. We are incredibly proud of every child and all that they have accomplished this year. We hope you enjoy taking the time to read and celebrate their successes with them.

Finally, we look forward to welcoming everyone for our last week of the academic year. It promises to be a busy and enjoyable few days as we celebrate another successful year together and prepare for a well-deserved summer break.

Parent Open Evening

We would like to invite you to our Parent Open Evening on Monday 13 July.

• From 3:30pm to 4:00pm, parents are invited to attend a short presentation led by their child’s new class teacher for September. This will include key information to help prepare for the transition into the next year group. There will also be an opportunity to ask any questions you may have.
• From 4:00pm to 4:30pm, you are welcome to visit your child’s current class teacher if you would like to discuss their end-of-year report or ask about next steps in their learning.

We understand that some parents have more than one child in school, and we recommend choosing one class presentation to attend.

From 4:00pm onwards, you will be able to visit your other child’s teacher to say hello and ask any questions.

The information shared during the class presentations will be sent out via Seesaw the following day for your reference.

We look forward to seeing you there and thank you for your continued support.

End of Term Events

Leavers’ Performance – Wednesday 15 July:  Year 6 will be putting on a performance of The Wrong Way Round on Wednesday 15 July in the school hall starting at 6.00pm.  Parents and families of Year 6 children are invited to attend.

Children should arrive for 5.30pm to allow them time to get ready.

Leavers Service – Thursday 16 July:  We will be holding a Leavers’ Service for our Year 6 class on Thursday 16 July at Holy Trinity Church, Coalbrookdale.  All children will attend, and we would like to invite the parents of the Year 6 children as well.

The service will start at 2.00pm and will last approximately an hour.

All children will walk back to school in time for the end of the day

Music Lessons – Mrs Angus

Dear Parents and Carers

My name is Rosemary Angus and I am a long-standing, over 20 years, independent music teacher at Coalbrookdale Academy. I have been a music teacher for 39 years.

I teach many instruments including piano, violin, guitar, flute, clarinet, saxophone, recorder and singing all to a high standard. I am sometimes able to loan instruments free of charge, although this is dependent upon instrument and how many I stock.

I teach students from reception to year 6 and beyond. Students are offered the opportunity to take exams when they are ready, but this is not compulsory.  There is also an opportunity twice yearly for students to perform in a concert.

I have a few spaces becoming available from September 2026 due to the year 6’s moving on to their new schools. Lessons from September are priced as follows:

15 minutes individual lesson: £9.50 per week
30 minutes individual lesson: £ 18.00 per week

If you would like to reserve one of these slots for your child please contact the office and they will give you my contact details.

Dinner Accounts

Could parents please ensure their child’s dinner account is paid and up to date before the end of term.  Please contact the school office if you would like an account balance.  All dinner accounts should always remain in credit to ensure your child receives a school meal.

Year 6 children’s accounts that are in credit after lunch on the last day will have their balance transferred to a younger sibling in school or be refunded.

Parish News – St Luke’s church welcome to all for Family Worship this Sunday 12 July

A very warm welcome to all to come along to our family worship service, this Sunday 12 July. The church will be cool, the service starts at 11am, and there will be refreshments at noon.

The theme is “Choosing Well”, as we reflect on the parable of the sower, described in Matthew’s gospel: Matthew 13:1-9 recounts how Jesus teaches a large crowd from a boat by the lake, describing a farmer scattering seed. Seeds fall on four types of ground: a hard path (eaten by birds), rocky soil (scorched by the sun), thorny ground (choked), and good soil, which yields an abundant harvest.

The children will be creating friendship bracelets together as we move into the summer, following the theme of “choosing well” on the paths we take in life, and the friends we take with us along the way. This links into the hymn choice “one more step along the world I go”, as we have Jesus with us too as our guide.

Our activities for children will be at the red tables to the side of the church, where we also have toys and books for younger children.

Back2Basics Family Festival is taking place during the school holidays (3 & 4 August) and is designed to be affordable for families, it’s 2 days packed with outdoor fun, creativity, and continued learning over the summer.

With Stone Age skills, forest school activities, bushcraft, creative workshops, wood fired pizzas, saunas, an evening BBQ, camping and more, it’s a chance for families to connect, learn, and have fun together in nature.
