A Week Full of Sport!
This week has been bursting with sporting excitement both in and out of school. With the success of the England men’s football team, the start of Wimbledon, and—of course—the highlight of our week—our very own Sports Day—it’s been a wonderful few days.
Sports Day was a truly joyful morning. The sunshine, the field full of children taking part with enthusiasm, cheering each other on, and showing all our school values while families watched proudly… it was everything we could have hoped for. In the end, though, it’s the children’s voices that matter most, and their verdict says it all:
“This is the coolest sports day!”
England vs Mexico – Monday Morning
As many of you will know, England are playing Mexico in the early hours of Monday morning. We’re aware that lots of our children are excited about the match, and we want to make it a shared experience for everyone.
So, on Monday morning, we will be watching the match together in school at 9am. We think it will be a lovely way to bring the children together for a national moment.
We kindly ask for your support in keeping the score quiet at drop‑off so the children can enjoy discovering the result together as they watch. It will make the experience even more special for them.
Crucial Crew Success for Year 6
We are incredibly proud of our Year 6 pupils, who were awarded Best School at this year’s Crucial Crew event. Throughout the day, they conducted themselves impeccably, demonstrating excellent behaviour, outstanding attitudes and a real eagerness to learn. Their positive conduct was recognised by all of the Crucial Crew staff, who unanimously chose them for this prestigious award. Staff were also particularly impressed by the children’s excellent knowledge and understanding of online safety, highlighting how well prepared and responsible they are as they move towards the next stage of their education. Well done, Year 6!
Move-up Morning
Next Tuesday (7 July), we will be holding Move Up Morning. Children will spend part of the morning in their new classes, getting to know their teachers and the staff who will be supporting them next year. This will be a great opportunity to begin building new relationships, explore what to expect, and discuss all the exciting learning and experiences to come. We recognise that change can be challenging, and we are committed to ensuring that every child feels supported through a careful and thoughtful transition. Over the remaining weeks of term, children will have further opportunities to continue strengthening these new relationships, helping them feel confident and ready for the year ahead.
Wimbledon – A Day to Remember!
This week, seven of our children embarked on an exciting, fun-filled trip to Wimbledon, travelling down to London from Wolverhampton station. The journey itself was an adventure, with some children experiencing the London Underground for the very first time!
Upon arriving in Wimbledon town, we enjoyed a walk through some beautiful areas, taking in the sights of stunning houses and impressive cars along the way. We then made our way to the famous Wimbledon grounds and headed straight onto the courts, where we watched Amanda Anisimova take on Lina Gjorcheska. It was a fast-paced match with a clear winner throughout, with Amanda Anisimova securing the victory.
Afterwards, we made our way to the iconic Wimbledon Hill, where we enjoyed a lovely lunch in the sunshine while watching matches from other courts on the big screen. The atmosphere was fantastic!
In the afternoon, we visited the gift shop and checked the board of play before heading to the Southern Village, where the children took part in interactive tennis games. A particular highlight was receiving their very own tennis ball, each stamped with a design of their choice – a wonderful keepsake from the day.
We then returned to the courts for one final match – and what a match it was! Ben Shelton faced Otto Virtanen in an exciting contest. Ben initially led the way, but Otto soon found his rhythm, making for a thrilling and memorable experience. The atmosphere was incredible, and the children absolutely loved it.
One child summed up the day perfectly, saying: “I honestly think it was the best day of my life so far.”
All of the children should be incredibly proud of themselves. Their behaviour was exemplary throughout the day, with several members of the public and even Wimbledon staff commenting on how polite and well-behaved they were.
It truly was an unforgettable experience.

End of Term events
Open afternoon – Monday 13 July (3.20pm – 4.00pm): Monday 13 July is an opportunity for children to show their parents and families what they have been doing in their classrooms this year, with a chance to say goodbye to their current teachers and take them to see their new classroom too.
Leavers’ Performance – Wednesday 15 July: Year 6 will be putting on a performance of The Wrong Way Round on Wednesday 15 July in the school hall starting at 6.00pm. Parents and families of Year 6 children are invited to attend.
Children should arrive for 5.30pm to allow them time to get ready.
Leavers Service – Thursday 16 July: We will be holding a Leavers’ Service for our Year 6 class on Thursday 16 July at Holy Trinity Church, Coalbrookdale. All children will attend, and we would like to invite the parents of the Year 6 children as well.
The service will start at 2.00pm and will last approximately an hour.
All children will walk back to school in time for the end of the day
Wraparound Watch
That’s a wrap from 30 Days Wild; we have had a great time doing the Wildlife Trust 30 Days Wild. During our nature chat today, the children enjoyed chatting about what their favourite activity was, how they have enjoyed connecting with nature through activities and games, how they are looking forward to doing the activities they have learnt in wraparound during the summer holidays with their family and friends. It’s been lovely seeing the children taking part in all the activities/games and enjoying taking part in something new that they have taken home to share. Thank you for all your lovely comments and positive feedback and I am happy you have enjoyed the photos of the children’s activities.

Dinner Accounts
Could parents please ensure their child’s dinner account is paid and up to date before the end of term. Please contact the school office if you would like an account balance. All dinner accounts should always remain in credit to ensure your child receives a school meal.
Year 6 children’s accounts that are in credit after lunch on the last day will have their balance transferred to a younger sibling in school or be refunded.

Community News – Back2Basics Family Festival
Back2Basics Family Festival is taking place during the school holidays (3 & 4 August) and is designed to be affordable for families, it’s 2 days packed with outdoor fun, creativity, and continued learning over the summer.
With Stone Age skills, forest school activities, bushcraft, creative workshops, wood fired pizzas, saunas, an evening BBQ, camping and more, it’s a chance for families to connect, learn, and have fun together in nature.
