A Thank You to Our School Community
As we come to the end of another busy week, I would like to thank our children, families and staff for their patience, understanding and flexibility during this week’s exceptionally hot weather.
We are also grateful to the Friends of Coalbrookdale and to parents who kindly donated frozen treats for both children and staff. This thoughtful gesture was very much appreciated by everyone.
Our children, staff and families have done incredibly well to adapt to the changes in routines, and we are proud of the way everyone has worked together to make the best of a challenging situation. Staff have once again gone above and beyond to adapt learning and ensure the children continued to enjoy their time in school despite the conditions.
We look forward to welcoming all children back on Monday following a cooler weekend.

Book Fair
The book fair will run next week (Monday 29 June – Wednesday 1 July: 3.20pm – 3.50pm)
Class photos
The closing date for free delivery back to school for class photos is Tuesday 30 June 2026. Order through the Tempest website using your unique link that sent out via Seesaw last week.

Sports Day
We’re looking forward to our whole school Sports Day, which will take place on the Regatta Field on Thursday 2 July, with events starting at 9:30am and finishing at approximately 11:30am.
Children will take part in a range of activities in their school Houses:
Gorge (Green)
Severn (Blue)
Wrekin (Red)
Bridge (Yellow)
If your child has a t-shirt in their house colour, we’d love them to wear it on the day. If not, we will provide coloured badges or bands so that all children feel part of their House team. If you are unsure of your child’s house, please speak to their class teacher or contact the school office.
Please access the field through the steps on Dale End Park. The Friends of Coalbrookdale have supported the school by organising a toilet to be available for the children on park site.
There will be an area for spectators to watch as the children move around the field competing in different events followed by year group races. Due to the children being on a public site for Sports Day, we will ask that parents and family members remain in the designated parent area so that staff are able to maintain safeguarding vigilance and practice throughout.
If the weather forecast is not favourable, we may need to postpone Sports Day in the interest of safety. A final decision will be made and communicated to parents by Wednesday 1 July.

On Friday 3rd July, children are invited to come to school in their own clothes in exchange for a donation of a bottle for our Summer Fair Bottle Tombola.

Forest Area – Volunteer Weekend
The Volunteer Weekend date will be Saturday 4 July – meet Mrs Marshall at the blue gates on Station Road between 10am- 3pm.
Friday 3 July will be the next volunteer morning, all parents welcome, please sign in at the school office at 9am- 12noon.

Wraparound Watch
This week with the warm weather we have enjoyed a calmer way to connect to nature and bringing the nature activities indoors. The children have enjoyed threading a daisy/buttercup chain, meditating with nature music to relax with the beautiful sounds, becoming wildlife detectives and making binoculars to look for butterflies, reading a wild book, chatting about the animal’s habitats, footprints and their favourite animals. Using the connects to make a flower patch for the bees and writing a wild poem to recreate a wild experience.
Our 30 Days Wild finishes next week and it’s been lovely seeing the children enjoying all the activities, being inspired to go for nature walks, continuing their new nature skills at home and sharing their own experiences of nature.
