Message from Mrs Dhaliwal
Dear Parent/Carer
It has been a wonderful start to the summer term and it has been fantastic to see the children return after the Easter break ready and fully engaged in their learning.
Today, your child will bring home their half-termly overview which outlines the learning that will be taking place over the coming weeks. We hope you find this helpful in supporting conversations about learning at home.
Over the next two weeks, teachers will be holding pupil progress meetings to review learning from the spring term and to set targets for the summer term. We will share progress reports with you at the end of next week, once all meetings have been completed.
Please take some time to look carefully at the upcoming dates for the summer term, as there is a great deal taking place. We are grateful, as always, for your continued collaboration and support.
It was also lovely to welcome so many parents to our Reading Book Club this Wednesday. Reading remains a key priority in our school, as it opens the door to all learning and plays such an important role in every child’s development.

Lego League Club
We were delighted to receive such a high level of interest in our Lego League Club this year. As the club has limited places, we were unfortunately unable to offer a place to every child. To ensure fairness, names were selected at random.
Parents of children who have secured a place have been contacted directly by Seesaw. If you have not received a message, unfortunately your child has not been allocated a place on this occasion.
Please be assured that this is not a reflection of ability and we will continue to provide a range of opportunities for all pupils to take part in clubs and enrichment activities throughout the year. We hope to run Lego League again in the future.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support.
Mobile Phones and Smart Devices – Reminder
We would like to take this opportunity to remind all families of our Mobile Phones and Smart Devices Policy which is available in full on our school website.
At Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge C.E. Primary School, we operate a phone-free school day to ensure a calm, safe and focused learning environment for all children.
– Pupils should not bring mobile phones or smart devices into school.
– If a phone is required for travel safety, it must be switched off and handed in to the school office on arrival, where it will be stored securely and collected at the end of the day.
– Smartwatches with messaging or camera functions are not permitted and must not be worn in school.
– If a device is seen, heard or used on site, it will be confiscated and returned to a parent/carer.
We also kindly remind parents not to contact children directly during the school day. If you need to get a message to your child, please contact the school office and we will ensure this is passed on promptly.
This approach supports safeguarding, reduces distractions and helps create a positive environment where all children can focus on their learning.
Thank you for your continued support in helping us maintain these high standards.
Behaviour Update
As a school, we know how important it is that every child feels safe, supported and ready to learn. We also understand that, in the past, some parents have had concerns about behaviour. We want to reassure you that this continues to be a key priority for us and we regularly monitor behaviour across the school.
Following the information we shared in the spring term about our Behaviour Policy, we are pleased to report a very positive picture. We have seen a significant reduction in behaviour incidents and a noticeable decline in the number of children needing support through Reflection Haven.
This reflects the consistent approach taken by staff, the strong relationships we are building and the clear expectations we have in place for all children.
We were also very proud that during a recent visit from the local authority in the spring term, our school was described as calm and orderly throughout the day. This is a wonderful recognition of the improvements being made.
We will continue to build on this positive progress and thank you for your ongoing support in reinforcing our expectations with your children.

Active Play Sessions – 21 April
Next Tuesday (21 April) all classes will be taking part in ‘Active Play Sessions’ across the day. Every class will have a 30-minute slot across the day to participate in a short ‘get active’ session with an external sports coach.
All children should wear their PE kit to school on Tuesday.
World Earth Day – 22 April
Next Wednesday is World Earth Day. To celebrate this occasion, we will be creating class artwork themed around protecting our planet.
On World Earth Day we are asking each child to bring in one piece of recyclable rubbish. This may include:
- Toilet roll tubes
- Empty plastic bottles
- Lids
- Tin foil
- Paper
- Cardboard
- Cartons
- Egg boxes
- Soft plastics
- Magazines
- Cereal boxes
- Newspapers
Please do not send in any metal or glass items, as these may be hazardous for children to handle. We also kindly ask that all items are suitable for creating art and do not contain images that are not age‑appropriate.
We are really looking forward to sharing the finished artwork with you next week.
