A Week Full of Success and Celebration
What a busy and successful week it has been in school! It has been wonderful to see the enthusiasm, excitement and engagement from the children across so many activities.
On Tuesday, we held our latest Parent Book Club which was another great success. It was fantastic to see so many parents join their children and sharing books together. Reading is such a powerful tool for learning and imagination and opportunities like this help strengthen the partnership between home and school in developing a love of books.
The focus on reading continued throughout the week as we celebrated World Book Day on Thursday. It was brilliant to see such a wide range of book characters represented across the school. The effort put into costumes was fantastic and really helped bring some of our favourite stories to life. Throughout the day, classes took part in a variety of activities centred around reading, storytelling and sharing books together.
A real highlight of the day was each class visiting the Book Shop in Ironbridge. The children
thoroughly enjoyed exploring the shop, browsing different genres and discovering new titles that interested them. During the visit, they also took part in activities that helped them develop valuable life skills, including navigating around a bookshop, communicating with shop staff, making choices and using money to purchase their books. It was wonderful to see the children so engaged and excited about their reading choices.
We would also like to say a big thank you to all the parent volunteers who supported us by walking with the classes to the bookshop. Your help made it possible for us to take the children safely into the local community and we are very grateful for the time you gave to support the school. Opportunities like this would not be possible without the support of our parent community.
The day ended with the much-anticipated Wonka Bar sale organised by our fantastic Friends group. A huge thank you to them for their continued hard work and commitment to fundraising for the school. Some very lucky children discovered golden tickets hidden inside their bars and were thrilled to win a free book!
A special thank you also goes to Mrs Hartlebury for leading our Girls’ Football event this week. The
aim of the session was to encourage more girls to try football and experience the enjoyment of playing as part of a team. The girls had a fantastic time and many commented afterwards how much they enjoyed playing, even those who initially thought football might not be for them! It was wonderful to see their confidence grow throughout the session.
Looking ahead to next week, we have another busy and exciting week planned. Alongside our usual learning across the curriculum, we will be celebrating Careers Week. Across the week, we will welcome a range of professionals into school who will talk to the children about their roles, the skills they use in their jobs and the pathways they took to reach their careers. These sessions help children begin to think about the wide range of opportunities available to them in the future, while also highlighting the importance of effort, curiosity and developing their own interests and talents.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.

SEND Space
We warmly invite all parents and carers to our next Coffee Session on Tuesday 21st April 2026, from 2:00pm to 3:20pm. This will be a relaxed and welcoming opportunity to meet other families and explore the support available both in school and across our wider community.
We are delighted to be welcoming special guests from Parents Opening Doors (PODs), our School Nurse and the local Family Hubs team. They’ll be on hand to share guidance, answer questions and offer practical advice.
Our SENDCo and Pastoral Team will also be available throughout the session should you wish to speak with them about your child’s needs or to simply say hello.
Whether you are new to SEND or have been part of our community for a while, you are very welcome. Come along for a chat, a hot drink and supportive conversation.
We look forward to seeing you there!

Parish News: Family service at St Luke’s this Sunday 8th March: a welcome to all
A very warm welcome to all as St Luke’s opens its doors for Family Worship on Sunday, to take place from 11am to 12 noon. It will be followed by refreshments.
It is also International Women’s Day and falls a week before Mothering Sunday.
With the Mothering Sunday service at St Lawrence that day, in Little Wenlock, we will take this family worship opportunity here at St Luke’s to celebrate the women in our families.
There will therefore be colouring and decorating activities for children in making cards for mothers and aunts and sisters and grandmothers. This will be at the red activity tables at the side of the church.
We will also think about the Samaritan woman at the well, who we will be hearing about in the Gospel reading. Jesus asks her for a drink of water, and she is astonished to be asked and pleased to help. She shares water with him, and he shares his good news of salvation with her and with the people of her town.
Children are welcome to either sit at the tables or sit with their families in pews.
There are also books and toys available for younger children to play with in the church.
