Safer Internet Day

Safer Internet Day 2026 will take place next Tuesday (10 February), with celebrations and learning based around the theme ‘Smart tech, safe choices – Exploring the safe and responsible use of AI’. Everyone’s talking about AI, and with many children and young people hearing about and using AI online, it’s important they have the skills and confidence to make safe choices when they are using smart technology.

This Safer Internet Day we are exploring the impact of AI on all of our lives, looking at how AI can be used for good, and giving advice and guidance that empowers people to use AI safely and responsibly

NSPCC Number Day

Next Friday (13 February) we are celebrating NSPCC’s Number Day, we are asking children to take up the challenge and ‘Dress up for Digits’ to raise money for the NSPCC.

Children simply wear an item of clothing with a number on it and donate (£1.00 suggested donation). This could be a favourite sports top or cap, or why not get more creative and design a unique t-shirt, hat or even become a human-sized calculator or dice!

Children will then be taking part in a full day of fun maths activities and games in class. If the children have a game that involves numbers (snakes and ladders, monopoly, etc) they are welcome to bring them in to play in the afternoon.

We hope to have lots of fun and raise money for the charity too.

Playground equipment

We are looking to enrich our playground loose parts area to better support gross motor and imaginative play during playtimes. We would greatly appreciate donations of safe, durable items such as crates, small tyres, planks, pipes, or similar open-ended materials that children can move, build, and create with.

If you have any suitable resources you are willing to donate, please send them in or speak with a staff member. Thank you for supporting our play-based learning environment.

Half Marathon – 16 May 2026

After half term, children have the opportunity to take part in a cumulative half marathon (13.1 miles).

Children will complete the first 12 miles of the total distance each week in school during breaktime. The final 1.1mile will be completed at Telford Rugby Club on Saturday 16 May 2026 (a letter with finalised details will be sent closer to the time).

The entry fee is £12.00 and the deadline to enter is Monday 9 February.

Friends News – School Disco – Thursday 12 February

Join us for the Friends’ School Disco! 🎶🕺💃

• Key Stage 1: 3:00–4:00pm
• Key Stage 2: 4:00–5:00pm

Entry: £2 per child

We’ll also have a fully stocked tuck shop where children can buy drinks and snacks.

News from the parish:  St Luke’s family worship this Sunday 8th February 2026

A very warm welcome to all as St Luke’s opens its doors for Family Worship on Sunday, to take place from 11am to 12 noon. Children and families are especially welcome as we think about our theme of “God Loves and Cares for us His Children”

Readings:

1st Reading Genesis 1:1-2.3

2nd Reading Matthew 6:25-end

In Matthew, Jesus says:

26 Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they? 27 Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

28 “And why do you worry about clothes? See how the flowers of the field grow. They do not labor or spin. 29 Yet I tell you that not even Solomon in all his splendor was dressed like one of these. “

There will be colouring and decorating activities for children around this theme, at the red activity tables at the side of the church. Last time, we made and decorated fish to think about Jesus calling his disciples: this time, we will think about the birds of the air and the flowers of the fields.

Children are welcome to either sit at the tables, or sit with their families in pews.

There are also books and toys available for younger children to play with in the church.

Community News – Temporary 40mph Speed Limit – Buildwas Road, Ironbridge

A traffic management arrangement for a Temporary 40mph Speed Limit Order along Buildwas Road, Ironbridge will come into force on Wednesday 8th April 2026 and will last for a duration of 18 months with an end date of Friday, 8th October 2027.
