Message from Mrs Dhaliwal
A huge thank you to all families who joined us for our Summer Fair – it was a fantastic event and a great success! The children thoroughly enjoyed themselves, and we are incredibly grateful to the Friends of Coalbrookdale for their hard work and dedication. Your efforts truly paid off!
Thank you also to those who attended Book Club on Thursday – your support is always appreciated.
This week, our Year 6 children have been out on two visits: St Michael’s Church on Thursday and Crucial Crew today. On both occasions, they received excellent feedback for their exemplary behaviour and for living out our school values. Miss Pugh has also shared how proud she was of our Year 3 and Year 6 children who took part in the tennis tournament on Tuesday. They represented our school brilliantly and were a credit to us all.
As we approach the end of the academic year, children will be completing end-of-year assessments in class. These will support teacher assessments and provide valuable information for transition meetings with next year’s class teachers. This ensures that staff have a clear understanding of each child’s strengths and areas for further development, helping to support a smooth and informed start in September.
Looking ahead, next week is shaping up to be another busy and exciting one. Our Book Fair opens from Monday 30 June (see below for details), and Tuesday is Sports Day. The weather forecast is looking positive. We will send out further information and reminders about the day on Monday.
Next week, we are delighted to welcome Miss Nisbet back from her maternity leave. She has been in school today getting to know the children in Year 4 in preparation for September. Next week, she will be working alongside Miss Anderson in Year 5, helping to prepare the children for a successful transition into Year 6.
As the weather is set to rise again next week, please ensure children come to school with a water bottle, a hat or cap, and sun cream already applied before the school day begins.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mrs Dhaliwal
Book Fair
There will be a book fair after school (3.20pm – 3.50pm) on the following dates:
Monday 30 June
Tuesday 1 July
Wednesday 2 July
All books are a part of a 3 for 2 offer including book sets. There will be a selection of new book titles and stationery available too. Payment is online only, and the payment page can be accessed via a QR code. We hope you will be able to support this event.
World Cultures Day – Wednesday 2 July
We are excited to announce that next Wednesday, 2nd July, we will be celebrating World Cultures Day – a special occasion to recognise and embrace the wonderful diversity within our school community.
Children are warmly invited to come to school dressed in the colours of their country’s flag. Alternatively, they are welcome to wear traditional clothing from their own culture if they wish to – a lovely way to celebrate and share their heritage.
Throughout the day, children will take part in a variety of activities to explore and learn about the different cultures represented in their class. They are also welcome to bring in cultural items to share, such as traditional clothing, toys, games, or music.
If children or families have photographs or resources at home that would support children in sharing their culture, we would greatly appreciate these being brought in to support learning. We will ensure all items are kept safe throughout the day and returned at home time.
We look forward to a vibrant, joyful day of learning, sharing and celebrating the unique cultures that make our school such a special place!

School Games Mark
We are delighted to announce that we have been awarded the School Games Mark Gold Award for the 2024/25 academic year.
The School Games Mark is a government-led award scheme launched in 2012, facilitated by the Youth Sport Trust to reward schools for their commitment to the development of competition across their school.
We are extremely proud of our pupils for their dedication to all aspects of school sport. 80% of our children have taken part in 20 local inter-school competitions this year.

Car Parking Permits
If you need to renew your free school car parking permit (or apply for a new permit) to park in Dale End or Wharfage car parks please see details below on what to do.
Parking permits are managed on Telford & Wrekin Council’s MiPermit website. The permit scheme will mean that permit holders will no longer need to display their permit within their vehicle as the system will update the Neighbourhood Enforcement Team’s handheld devices.
There is a unique authorisation code for school permits each year. You will be prompted to enter the code when applying for a permit.
The new code is: sWEhlZA6Ir

Parish News: St Luke’s summer picnic and praise service
St Luke’s would like to invite people along to an All Ages summer picnic and praise service in Dale End Park, this Sunday 29th June at 1100am.
The service will last for around 30 minutes, after which we will enjoy our picnic time together. We plan to be located near the play area, where the ground slopes down from the trees towards a large conifer.
There will be singing, colouring, prayers and conversations around the theme of “Free to be Kind”.
We hope to see people who are passing through for the Regatta, and ask them to join in with our activities, as well as familiar faces.
All you need to bring is a picnic, chairs or picnic blanket to sit on, and a big smile.
Reading: Galatians 5:1, 13 – 35
Songs:
- What a friend we have in Jesus 593 (Song of Fellowship)
- Our God is an awesome God 454 (Songs of Fellowship)
- He’s got the whole world in His Hands
- Thine be the glory or In Christ alone
And yes there is a Plan B: if it is wet, we will meet up at Holy Trinity, same time.
