Message from Mrs Dhaliwal
Dear Parents and Carers
As we move towards the final days of the academic year, I’d like to take a moment to share some of the wonderful things that have been happening in school this week.
First of all, a huge well done to our Year 6 children for their fantastic SATs results! Their hard work, determination, and focus throughout the year have truly paid off. We are incredibly proud of the progress they have made and the mature, responsible attitudes they have shown towards their learning.
Another highlight this week was Move Up Morning on Tuesday. Well done to all our children for showing such resilience, enthusiasm, and support for one another during this exciting – and sometimes nerve-wracking – transition. The adults who will be working with the children next year were so impressed by their positive attitudes and how well they settled into their new classrooms.
We also want to recognise our Year 6 pupils once again for the fantastic way they have approached their transition visits to secondary school over the past two weeks. They have represented Coalbrookdale brilliantly and should feel very proud of how confidently they are stepping into the next stage of their education.
A big thank you to all the parents who joined us for the parent workshops on Wednesday afternoon. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn together, share experiences, and discuss how we can continue to work in partnership to support our children. We are really looking forward to continuing these sessions in the new academic year.
We are also very grateful to the Friends of Coalbrookdale group who organised the brilliant school disco for all the children on Thursday. The children had a fantastic time enjoying this end-of-year celebration! Thank you to Mr Jagger for his DJ skills and crowd-pleasing playlist, and to Mrs Harvey and Mrs Hughes for running the refreshments and supporting with the set up – it was a real team effort and a big success.
Finally, today your child will be bringing home their end-of-year school report. This is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the progress your child has made over the year. The children have also shared their proudest moments from their time in school, and we hope you enjoy reading and reflecting on these special memories with them.
Thank you, as always, for your continued support.
End-of-Year Thanks and Gifts
As we approach the end of the school year, we want to take a moment to thank all of our families for their continued support. We know that some parents and carers like to express their appreciation to staff at this time of year, and we are always touched by your kindness.
However, we also want to reassure everyone that there is absolutely no expectation for families to give gifts. A simple message or kind word is more than enough and always greatly appreciated by staff.
We will also take this opportunity to gently remind families of our school’s Gifts and Hospitality Policy, which reflects our commitment to fairness, transparency, and inclusivity. If anyone would like to read this in more detail, a copy is available on our school website. Alternatively, a copy can be requested from the school office.
Thank you once again for everything you do to support our school community.
A Day to Remember – Our Trip to Wimbledon!
On Sunday 6th July, eight children and three staff members from Coabrookdale and Ironbridge CE Primary School, set off on an unforgettable trip to the world-renowned Wimbledon Championships.
Meeting early at Wolverhampton train station, we began our journey to London by train – a first for several of the children. Navigating the bustling streets and experiencing the London Underground gave the children a first-hand taste of city life and built their confidence in exploring unfamiliar environments.
Once at Wimbledon, the excitement and atmosphere were something truly special. Seated in Court No. 2, the children were able to watch live tennis matches, witness professional players in action, and become part of an international sporting tradition. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience that inspired awe, wonder, and admiration.
It wouldn’t have been Wimbledon without a shower of rain – but, true to form, we stayed dry and undeterred thanks to our perfectly placed seats!
This enriching opportunity forms part of our school’s commitment to widening children’s horizons and supporting their personal development. Through experiences like this, children are encouraged to explore the world beyond their immediate community, develop independence, and build cultural capital – helping to prepare them for life in modern Britain.
One child shared:
“I’d never been to London before and didn’t know what to expect. I learned how to use the tube and loved watching the tennis – it made me think I could do something like that one day too!”
The day was filled with smiles, learning, and memories that will last a lifetime. We are incredibly proud of the way the children represented the school – showing responsibility, respect, and curiosity throughout the day.
A huge thank you to the staff who made this special trip possible.

Building Bright Futures – LEGO Competition Success with Capgemini
A group of eight children from Years 2 & 3 recently took part in an exciting 10-week LEGO competition, supported by Capgemini – and what an amazing journey it has been!
Led by staff in school and supported each week by two coaches from Capgemini, the children worked in teams to create innovative LEGO projects that combined creativity, teamwork, and coding. Throughout the sessions, they developed their computing knowledge, learning how to code and program their LEGO models, bringing them to life with movement and sound. These practical experiences strengthened their understanding of computing in a meaningful and highly engaging way.
The club culminated in a special celebration event at AFC Telford on Friday 4th July, where the children proudly presented their projects to an audience of coaches, staff, and other schools. It was a fantastic day that gave our pupils the opportunity to demonstrate their teamwork, problem-solving, and communication skills: all key aspects of their personal development.
The atmosphere was full of excitement and pride as each child received a medal and certificate, recognising their effort, commitment, and achievements across the program. It was clear to see how much the children had grown in confidence and how much they had enjoyed the experience.
Opportunities like this are a wonderful way of widening children’s horizons, giving them a taste of what it’s like to work in the world of technology and innovation. For many of our pupils, this was their first introduction to coding in a real-world context – and it has sparked a genuine interest in the world of computing and STEM careers.
We are incredibly proud of every child who took part and thankful to Capgemini for making this opportunity possible.
The future certainly looks bright for these young innovators!
