Staff News

We are pleased to share that Miss Anderson will be returning to school next week following her maternity leave.

We look forward to welcoming her back and know that the children will be excited to see her.

Forest School Sessions

We are excited to begin our Forest School sessions next week! These sessions provide children with a fantastic opportunity to connect with nature, build resilience, and develop teamwork and problem-solving skills. Spending time outdoors also has a positive impact on mental wellbeing, helping children to feel calmer, more focused, and engaged in their learning.

Teachers will be linking the curriculum subjects to practical, hands-on experiences in nature. For example, children might explore habitats and ecosystems in science or apply their maths skills to measure and estimate in real-world contexts. These experiences will deepen their understanding and make learning more engaging and meaningful.

Each class will have Forest School sessions on the following days in Spring 2:

  • Reception – Every Wednesday
  • Year 1 – 24th March & 7th April
  • Year 2 – 25th March & 8th April
  • Year 3 – 18th March & 1st April
  • Year 4 – 27th March & 10th April
  • Year 5 – 20th March & 3rd April
  • Year 6 – 17th March & 31st March

To ensure children get the most from these sessions, please send them to school with appropriate clothing (long sleeves and trousers) —waterproofs, wellies, and warm layers, depending on the weather.

If you have any questions, please speak to your child’s class teacher. We look forward to seeing how our children thrive in outdoor learning and use nature as a classroom without walls!

Exciting LEGO Club Opportunity for Years 1-4!

We are excited to offer a fantastic opportunity for children in Years 1, 2, 3 and 4 to take part in a LEGO competition, supported by Capgemini. This unique program will provide children with the chance to work on an exciting LEGO project, develop teamwork skills, and showcase their creativity.

This club will be led by Miss Marshall / Miss Pearson. Capgemini will also be sending two coaches to support each session. The club will run for 10 weeks. The first session will be Wednesday 26 March 2025, and will run every Wednesday (until 18 June).

At the end of the program, there will be a special event day at AFC Telford where Lego teams can present their projects and celebrate their achievements.

We have space for 12 children to take part in this exciting opportunity. If your child would like to be considered for a place, please complete the form in the link below by Tuesday 18 March 2025. If interest exceeds capacity, we will consider how to allocate places fairly.

We look forward to hearing from those who are interested!

Volunteering in School

We are thrilled that some of you have expressed an interest in volunteering in school to support activities and events! Parent volunteers play a valuable role in enriching the school experience for our children, whether it’s helping with reading, supporting school trips, assisting with events, or getting involved in special projects.

If you would like to become a school volunteer, we would love to hear from you! Please email the school office to express your interest, and we will guide you through the next steps, including getting a school DBS check set up to ensure all safeguarding procedures are in place.

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our school community, support the children, and make a real difference. We look forward to welcoming more of you into school and working together to create even more wonderful experiences for our children.

Thank you for your support!

News from the parish: All Ages Service at school – Sunday 16th March

We are pleased to give details of an All-Ages Service to be held at the school, from 11am to 12 noon this Sunday 16 March.

We would like to invite children and their families to join people from the local churches, so that we may get to know each other and strengthen friendships together.

There will be juice, biscuits, cake and fruit after the service, which will itself include singing and activities as well as colouring.

The service will be held in the school hall. Entrance is through the wide blue gates and up the right-hand slope to the school. Please walk round to your right to enter via the side door.

The theme is “God Keeps His Promises”.  The local churches look forward to seeing families there.
