Message from Mrs Dhaliwal

We have had another successful week celebrating the wonderful achievements of our children. A group of Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2 pupils took part in an Athletics tournament this week and represented our school brilliantly – we are very proud of their effort and teamwork.

Thank you to all parents who attended the Parent Book Club; it’s always great to see families engaging so positively with our school community.

A special thank you also goes to the parents who supported our Year 3 children on Monday during their visit to Holy Trinity Church for the Harvest Experience. Your help and encouragement made the visit even more meaningful for the children.

Many thanks for your continued support, and I wish you all a wonderful weekend.

TAARC Visit – Celebrating Black History and Inspiring Change

Yesterday, our Key Stage 2 children were visited by representatives from TAARC (Telford African and Afro-Caribbean Resource Centre), who delivered an engaging and thought-provoking workshop. The children learned about influential Black figures, including Michelle Agyemang, Marcus Rashford, Roy Hackett MBE, Paul Stephenson OBE and Joyce Morris-Wisdom and explored the incredible impact each has had on society.

The session encouraged our pupils to reflect on themes of equality, perseverance, and community, and to think about how they, too, can make a positive difference in the world.

Dear Parents and Carers,

I hope you are well. My name is Simon Evitts, and I’m contacting you on behalf of The Embrace Group, the organisation that delivers PE lessons and after-school sports clubs at Coalbrookdale Primary School.

From after the half-term, there will be a change to how you book places for after-school clubs. Bookings will now be managed directly through The Embrace Group’s online booking system.

This new system will allow you to:

  • Book and pay for clubs in one place.
  • Manage bookings more easily and receive updates directly from our team.

Our booking platform is fully secure and meets all GDPR requirements, ensuring that your information is safe and only accessible to authorised staff who need it.

Please note that setting up your profile will take a little time the first time you log in, but this is to ensure we have all the necessary information to keep your child safe during our sessions.

If you would like to, or are considering, booking a place for your child in one of our after-school clubs, please follow the link below to create your profile in preparation for the new club list being released soon.

Update on the compromised weblink in Children’s “Spy Dog / Spy Pup / Spy Cat” Books

Following the recent alert regarding a weblink within these children’s books no longer being a safe link as the URL inside the books directed readers to a third party weblink that had taken over the original site. The internet service provider, Nominet has confirmed that it has now suspended the site for breaching the Online Safety Act. The link is no longer valid and there is no on-going cause for concern for children accessing these books.

🌿 Eco Council Newsletter – Autumn Term 🌿

A warm welcome back to the new academic term! We’re excited to begin another year of eco-friendly initiatives and positive change at our school.

Firstly, a huge thank you to all the children who applied to be part of this year’s Eco Council. Every applicant was amazing and showed great perseverance and passion for the environment. We’re proud to announce that our new Eco Council has now been selected, and I’m really looking forward to working with such a hardworking and dedicated team.

Year 3:  Rory & Lilith
Year 4:  Harry
Year 5:  Tilly & Ruben
Year 6:  Dominic, Seren & Violet

As our first priority, we’ve been discussing plans for the year ahead, including new ideas and continuing some of our existing projects. One of our key focuses is improving sustainability across the school and encouraging eco-conscious habits at home.

We’d like to take this opportunity to remind families about the importance of recycling. Recycling helps preserve natural resources like trees, oil, and minerals, which are used to make everyday items such as paper, plastic, and glass. By recycling, we reduce the need to extract these resources, protect wildlife habitats, and support a healthier planet.

Recycling is also financially beneficial — it’s a more cost-effective way to manage waste, and the savings can be reinvested into vital community services.

🌱 Eco Council Mascot Competition 🌱

We’re excited to announce a brand-new competition launched by our Eco Council! We’re on the lookout for a talented young artist to design our very own Eco Mascot — a character that represents our school’s values, celebrates being environmentally friendly, and inspires others to care for our planet.

Children were introduced to the competition during this week’s assembly, and Eco Council members have been busy spreading the word in their classrooms. Entries will be accepted throughout the half term to give everyone plenty of time to get creative.

The deadline for submissions is Friday 7 November

We can’t wait to see all the bright, bold, and imaginative designs — and to meet the mascot that will help lead our green mission!

We’re really looking forward to a fantastic year ahead, working together to make our school a greener, cleaner, and more inspiring place to be.

Thank you for your continued support,

The Eco Council & Miss Stackhouse
