Parish News – News from St Luke’s
St Luke’s Ironbridge would like to invite people to a service of Holy Communion and JAM this Sunday, 28th September, starting at 11.00a.m.
Readings:
1st Reading 1 Timothy 6:6-19
Gospel : Luke 16:19-31
For our associated Jesus and Me (JAM) activity for school age children, we will be thinking in particular about the reading from St Peter’s letter to Timothy, in which he talks about the contentment to be found in the company of friends and family and in good deeds and acts of kindness, rather then trying to gain wealth.
This is because “…godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world, and we can take nothing out of it.”
We will be making friendship bracelets along with colouring activities as we think about this theme.
This will be at the red activity tables at the side of the church.
Songs:
- In Christ alone
- Christ is our cornerstone hymn 98
- Forth in the name, O Lord, I go hymn 188
- Our God is a great big God
We hope to see children and their families there, and to share our refreshments after the service has finished.

In response to a local feedback, Family Hubs in partnership with CATE are offering an interactive, informative and non-judgemental online workshop to support parents and carers with knowledge and practical advice around image sharing, both from an awareness raising and preventative perspective and also offering advice in relation to how to respond if their child or young person receives or sends an image.
Titled ‘Picture This’ the session will enable parents and carers to:
• Understand the worries around sexting and the sharing of nude photos
• Discuss risks and consequences
• Explore how we can talk to our children and young people about this effectively
• Discover practical options to support your children and young people
Parents can choose from one of three dates: Tuesday 30 September, Wednesday 29 October or Thursday 20 November, all 6-8pm
