Be Internet Legends
Yesterday, we were delighted to welcome our local MP, Shaun Davies, into school alongside the Be Internet Legends team, who delivered an engaging and informative online safety workshop for the children.
We would like to say a big thank you to Shaun Davies and the Be Internet Legends team for taking the time to visit and work with our children. It was fantastic to see the children confidently applying the knowledge and skills they have developed through their online safety lessons in school, demonstrating a clear understanding of how to stay safe online.
Yesterday also included a parent workshop focused on how families can help ensure children are safe online. Thank you to the parents and carers who were able to attend and engage so positively with the session. We really value working in partnership with parents on such an important area of children’s safety.
We will be holding further online safety workshops for parents in the future, and we will share details as these opportunities become available.
We are very proud of how well the children represented the school and grateful for the continued support of our school community.

Playtime arrangements
We wanted to share a brief clarification following a recent change to playtime arrangements on the playgrounds.
Children are still very much allowed to run and enjoy active play on the playgrounds. However, chasing games are not permitted on the bottom playground.
This decision has been made because chasing games have increasingly resulted in hands-on rough play, upset between children and a rise in first aid incidents. We have also seen accidents occurring when children run between different activities and play equipment.
Staff will continue to support children to engage in a range of positive play activities and to make safe choices during breaktimes. In addition, Mrs Marshall is currently exploring additional options for playground provision that will allow children to continue developing their physical movement in a safe and structured way.
Thank you for your understanding and continued support as we work to ensure our playgrounds are safe, calm and happy environments for all children.
Christmas Light Switch-On – Parental Supervision Reminder
We are really looking forward to seeing many of you at the upcoming Christmas Light Switch-On, where our school choir will be performing as part of the community celebrations.
As this is a public community event and takes place outside of school hours, we would like to remind parents and carers that children attending are the responsibility of their parent/carer at all times. Parents will need to remain with their child throughout the event.
Timings for the event are:
- 4.30pm: Lantern Walk (meet at Toll House side of The Ironbridge)
- 4.45pm – 5.00pm: Choir Performance
Before the performance, any children who would like to take part in the lantern walk should meet at the Toll House side at 4:30pm. Staff from school will also meet here. We’ll walk across the bridge together, place the lanterns along the front of the stage, and then the children will take their places to sing.
School uniform is not required but warm coats, hats and gloves are recommended.
Thank you for your understanding and support. We’re delighted to be part of this community event and look forward to celebrating together.
