Message from Mrs Dhaliwal
It has been a busy and very productive week in school, with so much to celebrate. Thank you to all the children who took part in Odd Socks Day on Monday. Odd Socks Day is an important reminder that we are all unique and valued just as we are. It helps us reinforce the message that kindness, respect and celebrating difference are key to creating a safe and happy school for everyone.
A big thank you also for your generosity towards our Christmas Shoe Box Appeal. Your donations will make a real difference to children and families who need a little extra support at this time of year, and we are truly grateful. Once boxes have been prepared, we will be able to share with you how many boxes we have been able to donate.
Today we also marked Children in Need, and once again our school community has shown wonderful kindness. Thank you for your donations. We are delighted to share that we raised over £155.00. Your contributions help support vital services for children across the UK.
Finally, a huge well done to our Kwik Cricket team, who represented the school brilliantly at the Telford Tennis Centre on Thursday. The children showed fantastic teamwork, determination and sportsmanship. Not only did they win matches, but staff from other schools even commented on how well they supported each other as a team. We are incredibly proud of them.
As temperatures are set to drop next week, please ensure children come to school with coats, hats, gloves and other winter accessories (named) so they can stay warm and comfortable during playtimes and outdoor learning.

River Severn flooding
We have received the following message from Telford & Wrekin Council this afternoon:
The River Severn catchment is an improving situation but there’s still a peak forecast down the river for Sunday pm/Monday.
We will be coning off the Wharfage tonight ahead of deploying the gully bungs tomorrow in the morning. We are also going to be installing a compound on the Wharfage this evening and laying out the diversion route ready for if it’s needed. Some parts of the car-park that are currently blocked off may be re-opened to allow for our compound if the space is needed.
The EA are planning to bring the barriers down tomorrow and if needed, they will be deployed on Sunday. We’re currently looking at a regular winter storm and not expecting much flooding beyond the usual low-lying properties.
Please allow extra time to travel to school on Monday morning should the Wharfage be closed to traffic.
Eco Council News
Eco council have been collecting the entries from the mascot competition and are so pleased to have
chosen a winner. We want to take the time to thank the children who entered; they worked hard and should be so proud of their designs.
However, we are pleased to announce that Isaac’s design has been chosen as our school mascot!
Please meet: Evergreen Eco Erny!

We have now created this into a real character, and this is someone who will be placed all around schools. Eco Council will be deciding in the next few days the best place for Eco Erny to be placed around school to help people remember to be more eco-friendly.
Also, this week Eco council had an exciting presentation from the Picture News team about COP30. COP30 (Conference of Parties – 30th year) is
an annual event held around the world bringing together world leaders, presidents and even royalty. This year it is being held in Brazil, one of the most important places as it is so close to the Amazon Rainforest. Eco Council were able to speak to music teacher Jenny Cooper who is attending the event on behalf of children in the United Kingdom. She shared how amazing it was to hear all of the world leaders’ views and how important it was to be a part of something so special. The children were also able to listen to Dr Sifiso Ndlovu (Chief Executive Officer of the Zimbabwean Teachers Association) where he left a powerful message to the children and teachers listening:
“If you take one thing from this and COP30 it is never stop talking about it; never stop the conversation about saving our planet. Tell your children who will tell their children, and they will tell their children. The more we educate and communicate the closer we come to saving our planet.”
This powerful message resonated with Eco Council and it has sparked some real interest in the children to come up with some new ideas for helping our school and community be more environmentally friendly.
We also wanted to take this opportunity to remind people about recycling at home. Telford & Wrekin Council have a great upcoming event for reusing and recycling old unwanted household items. This event is taking place on 20 November 2025 at Unit 501 Queensway Business Park, Hadley Park, Telford, TF1 7UL. Everything is priced at £20 and under cash only. Please see below some pictures of what might be up for grabs.
