DIY SOS

On Saturday Miss Owen led staff and families in tidying up the woodland area behind school.  Thank you to everyone who came to help – you have all made a fantastic contribution to the outdoor environment at school.  Extra thanks to Tesco’s who donated gardening equipment and iced lollies which were very welcome on such a sunny day.

Thank you Bella, Jasper, Thomas B, Sophie, Joe, Harvey, Tema, Josiah, Nell, Zeke, Shiloh, Emilia, Orla and their families for their support.

Year 6 SATs

A huge “Well done!” to all our children who took part in SATs this week!  They have worked so hard and we are so proud of them.

Thank you also to all the staff across the school who supported the children during their tests.

Parent/Teacher Consultations (Reception – Year 5)

Parent/teacher meeting appointments for children in Reception – Year 5 take place next week.

If you have not already done so, please make an appointment via the school website Coalbrookdale and Ironbridge C.E. Primary School – News and Information for Parents and Carers (coalbrookdaleschool.org.uk).

Monday 20 May (3.30pm – 6.30pm)

Tuesday 21 May (3.30pm – 5.30pm)

Pentecost Service – Wednesday 22 May

Year 5 will be celebrating Pentecost at Holy Trinity Church, Coalbrookdale next Wednesday, 22 May.  All school children will attend, and we would like to invite parents/carers to join us.  If you can walk to church with your child’s class please let their class teacher know.

The service will start at 2.00pm.

All children will walk back to school and should be collected as normal at the end of the day.

School Photos

Next Thursday (23 May) the school photographer will be in to take a whole school photo.

On Friday 7 June they will be in school again to take class photos.

Children whose class has PE on these days should come to school dressed in their school uniform and bring PE kit with them to change in to.

Poetry Competition

From now until Friday 7 June, the children are invited to enter a poetry competition, with the possibility of having the work displayed in an exhibition as part of a wider school art project. The theme of the poetry competition is:

Ironbridge- Then and Now!

Any style of poetry is welcomed! The children can take inspiration from Ironbridge and the local area and its wonderful history including the Industrial Revolution, life as a child in the Industrial Revolution, Coalport, Jackfield and the factories or the Ironbridge itself.

The competition closes Friday 7 June. Any entries should be submitted to the class teacher please. The entries will be judged, and the winning pieces will be announced.

We look forward to reading the amazing entries!

Ironbridge Scarecrow Festival

Each class will be making a scarecrow for the Ironbridge Scarecrow Festival.  We would appreciate donations of old, adult clothes to help us dress the scarecrows and tights to build the scarecrows.  Please speak to your child’s class teacher to see what clothing they need. Donations should be handed in by next Wednesday (22 May).

School Uniform

Uniform is incredibly important to us at Coalbrookdale. It underpins our ethos, values and an important part of our school’s identity. It reinforces who we are as a community and helps children to feel pride in their school. I believe it sets the tone for expectations around conduct, behaviour, and attitudes; this in turn impacts on the smooth running of lessons and the atmosphere within school. We will place a high emphasis on children wearing it correctly. Your continued support in this respect is very much appreciated.

Standard Uniform Our school colours are royal blue, black and grey. We request children wear a royal blue jumper / sweatshirts / cardigan and grey or black skirts / pinafores or trousers.  Fleece jackets can also be worn.

In warmer months, blue gingham dresses / black or grey smart shorts can be worn.

All children need to wear sensible black shoes (no heels or trainers please). In the colder weather, girls are permitted to wear black, navy or grey tights.

PE Uniform (to be worn on PE days only) – shorts or jogging bottoms – black or navy-blue

– a t-shirt – white or navy-blue

– jumper or fleece – white, royal blue or navy-blue

Children will always need trainers for P.E.

If you have any questions about the guidance, please do not hesitate to contact school or refer to the uniform policy on the website for further information. If there are any extenuating circumstances, which mean you are unable to meet the uniform requirements, you can discuss this with your child’s class teacher or Headteacher.

Head Lice

We have had reports of head lice in KS2.  Could all parents please check their children’s hair carefully and treat if necessary.

Friends News – Mufti-day Friday 24th May
