Mufti Day – Monday 15 July
Next Monday (15 July) we will be having a mufti-day to raise money for Broseley First Responders who are working with the Lightbody Family to purchase a defibrillator to take with them to Nepal over the summer holidays. They will be working with the village to teach them first aid as during the monsoon season they can be cut off for up to three months from the nearest hospital, which is two hours walk away. Please click on the link below to find out more about the village of Saping.

Children can wear their own clothes instead of school uniform in exchange for a donation.
Euro 2024 – optional late start on Monday 15th July
With England getting further in the competition than first seemed possible, we wanted to give families the option of dropping their children off at a later time on Monday morning. This could allow children to stay up to watch some or all of the Euro 2024 Final which takes place on Sunday 14th July at 8.00pm.
With the prospect of extra time and potentially penalties, we know this will be a late night for those who choose to watch it! As long as you drop your child off at school before 10.00am they will not receive a late mark. This means the school morning still begins at 8:50am for those who need to drop their children off as normal but you have the option of arriving later – up to 10.00am.
Open Evening – Monday 15 July (3.20pm – 4.00pm)
Open evening next Monday is an opportunity for children to show their parents and families what they have been doing in their classrooms this year, with a chance to say goodbye to their current teachers and take them to see their new classroom too.
Staffing
Next Friday we say farewell to Mr Rutherford. Mr R has been part of the Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge School community for 23 years. We also say goodbye to Miss Ford, who has been the Year 2 TA this year. We wish them all the best in their future endeavours.
In September we welcome Miss Grace Stackhouse to Coalbrookdale as our Year 1 class teacher. We hope you will make her feel welcome at Coalbrookdale.
Outdoor Area
This week Councillor Healy visited school to see how a recent pot of Councillor Pride Funding has helped to transform part of our outdoor space. Children across every year group will use this space – come rain or shine! Thank you also to parents, children and staff who have also volunteered their time and resources in recent months to bring the forest school space back into use.

Car Parking Permits
If you need to renew your Concessionary School Car Parking Permit (or apply for a new permit) to park in Dale End, Wharfage and Ironbridge Central (formally known as Station Yard) on the Broseley side of the Ironbridge car parks, please contact Telford & Wrekin Council on 01952 384 000. The permit is to facilitate dropping off and picking up of
children only. Maximum parking time is restricted to one hour.
We would like to remind parents that they should not be parking on the zig-zag lines in front of school. Please be considerate and park legally.
Book Fair
Thank you to everyone who supported the book fair this week. Through the commission earned on your purchases, school was able to buy books worth nearly £100.00 for classrooms.

Rosemary Angus – End of Year Concert / Music Lessons
I am pleased to announce that the summer music concert will be on Monday 15th July at 5.00pm in the school hall.
I have been teaching instrumental music lessons at Coalbrookdale Primary School since 2003. I am a private teacher and have been teaching music for 37 years.
I teach piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, violin, singing and guitar. All of my lessons are taught on a one to one basis. Students who take lessons have the opportunity to sit graded music exams, when they are ready to and if they want to do so.
Lessons with myself are around 1/3 less in price than the lesson equivalent with Telford & Wrekin music services.
Weekly individual lessons from September will be: 15 minutes – £9.00 / 30 minutes – £17.00
I teach all years from Reception to Year 6 and beyond. Please call me on 07816958048 or contact the school to reserve a weekly slot for your child. Lesson slots are allocated on a first come first served basis. I am sometimes able to loan instruments, free of charge whilst taking lessons.
Dinner accounts
Could parents please ensure their child’s dinner account is paid and up to date before the end of term. Please contact the school office if you would like an account balance. All dinner accounts should always remain in credit to ensure your child receives a school meal.
Year 6 children’s accounts that are in credit after lunch on the last day will have their balance transferred to a younger sibling in school or be refunded.

News from the parish: family worship at St Luke’s this Sunday
We would like to invite children and their families to come along to St Luke’s Church this Sunday 14th July, for a United Benefice service of family worship.
The service will start at 11.00am and finish with refreshments at noon.
The reading for this Sunday, as we think about the Acts of the early apostles, is taken from St Paul’s letter to the Ephesians. It is Ephesians 1: 3-14.
In it, we read “Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has bestowed on us in Christ every spiritual blessing in the heavenly realms. In Christ he chose us, before the world was founded, to be dedicated, to be without blemish in his sight, to be full of love”.
Ephesus, like Ironbridge, is now a World Heritage Site: and like the people of Ephesus, we may reflect upon the blessings that we receive and the words of St Paul in the Acts of the Apostles, when he says: “I commend you to God and to his gracious word, which has power to build you up and give you your heritage among all who are dedicated to him.”
As we come towards the end of term, with the Year Six Leavers Service taking place at Holy Trinity Church next Thursday afternoon, the Benefice wishes every present and future blessing upon the children soon to leave the school, and the children returning in September.
We hope to see children and families join with us on Sunday. There will be colouring activities, based at the red activity table to the side of the pews, with children welcome to take these into the pews to sit with their families if they would like to do so.
There is a range of toys and books for younger children to play with as well.
