Academisation – Parent Meeting

Next Thursday (4 July @ 2.15pm) there is a meeting in the school for the entire school community, giving you the opportunity to ask questions about what academy status means for Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge CE Primary School.  The meeting will be held in the school hall.

Below is a link to an online form where you can provide anonymous feedback. Please submit any comments or questions to by Friday 19 July 2024.

More information regarding academisation can also be found in the letter sent to parents via Seesaw on 18 June 2024.

Due to the meeting, there will be no Book Club next Thursday (4 July)

Book Fair

There will be a book fair after school (3.20pm – 3.50pm) on the following dates:

Tuesday 2 July

Wednesday 3 July

Friday 5 July

Tuesday 9 July

All books are half price including the book packs.  You can pay by cash/cheque.  For every £1 spent on books, the school receives at least 20p to spend on books for classes.  We hope you will be able to support this event.

Sports Day – Tuesday 9 July

KS1 Sports Day will be held on the school playground with events starting at 9.30am and will conclude at around 11.00am.

KS2 Sports Day will be held on the Regatta Field with events starting at 1.30pm and will conclude at around 3.00pm.

Children will be completing activities in their Houses (Gorge (Green), Severn (Blue), Wrekin (Red) and Bridge (Yellow)).  If the children have t-shirts in their house colour, that would be great, but if not, we will have some coloured badges or bands for them.  If you do not know your child’s house check with the class teacher or school office.  Please remember to send children with hats, sunscreen, and water bottles.

If the weather forecast is not favourable, in the interests of safety we may need to cancel/postpone Sports Day however a final decision will be made the day before (8 July) on whether to go ahead.  The reserve date is Thursday 11 July.

Art Days

Next week Year 4 (Wednesday 3 July) will have their art day for their part in the whole school art project.  Parents are welcome to join their children in class from 1.15pm.

This week Year 2 visited the park and looked at trees. They spent time getting to know a tree, how old it was, what it looked like, what mini beasts lived in the tree.  We then returned to class to make lots of leaf art ready for the whole school display.

Water Safety

The Health Protection Hub at Telford & Wrekin Council have asked us send out some information to you on summer water safety.  With the current hot weather, children, particularly older children, may look to go swimming in open water to cool down and have fun.  This comes with various risks – cold water shock, currents, hidden underwater dangers and diseases such as Weil’s disease. 46% of drownings occur in the summer months and this rises to 75% amongst 13 – 17-year olds. Educating children on these dangers is important in preventing tragic incidents.

The Royal Life Saving Society and the Canal & River Trust have some good resources with more information on this to discuss with your children:
