News from the Parish

This Sunday 29th September, there will be a special service of Prayer and Praise for All at St Luke’s at 11am. This includes a Jesus and Me (JAM) activity session being arranged in the vestry for school age children.

The readings are as follows:
James 5: verses 13-20
Mark 9: verses 38-50

In the verses from James, we learn about the importance of taking our worries and fears to God in prayer, and singing in praise too when we are in good heart.

To link in with this, for the JAM activities the children will draw around both their hands on card and cut these out, decorate them, and stick them onto lollipop sticks. Then the hands can be raised in praise and put together in prayer.

We will talk about things we would like to praise God for, and things we would like to take to him in prayer.

The children will return to sit with their families in church when we are finished, ready to share what we have been doing.

There are also books and toys available for younger children, as well as colouring, within the church.

We hope to see children and their families there, and to share refreshments after the service has finished.

The hymns are as follows:

  1. New every morning is thy love: hymn 467
  2. I heard the voice of Jesus say: hymn 310
  3. Father, hear the prayer we offer: hymn 161
  4. How sweet the name of Jesus sounds: hymn 297
  5. Be thou my guardian and my guide: hymn 69
