A Shining Start to Christmas in Ironbridge

Last Saturday, our school choir had the privilege of performing at the Ironbridge Christmas Light Switch-On. The children sang beautifully, showcasing their talents and representing our school with pride. They demonstrated excellent responsibility and were a shining example of what it means to be an active and supportive part of our community.

This event was a wonderful way to begin the Christmas celebrations in Ironbridge, and we are incredibly proud of our choir for their dedication and effort. A heartfelt thank you to Mrs Postance and Ms Pugh for their dedication and support in attending and supporting the children for this special occasion. A special thank you also goes to Mr Wheeler for preparing the choir with their performance during lunchtime practices.

Thank you to all parents and families who came along to support our choir – your presence made it all the more memorable!

Reception and Year 1 Christmas Nativity – A Joyful Celebration

This week, our Reception and Year 1 children wowed us all with their wonderful performances of the Christmas Nativity, We Three Kings. Their hard work and dedication truly shone as they demonstrated great perseverance in learning their lines and the lyrics to the songs. The children supported one another with compassion and displayed the highest levels of responsibility, which are so important when performing to an audience.

It has been an absolute pleasure to watch them perform, and they have made us all incredibly proud.

These magical performances wouldn’t have been possible without the commitment and hard work of our dedicated staff team. A special thank you to Mrs Marshall, Mrs Fletcher, Miss Stackhouse, and Mrs Austin for their tireless efforts in preparing the children, managing tight schedules, and ensuring every detail – from the costumes to the performances and stage decorations – was simply perfect.

Thank you for bringing the Nativity story to life and for giving us all such a special start to the festive season!

Pantomime

The children enjoyed watching Jack & The Beanstalk this week.  Thank you to Friends of Coalbrookdale for funding this event.

Christmas Lunch – Wednesday 11 December

Christmas Jumper Day – Raising Funds for Save the Children – Wednesday 11 December

We are excited to announce that we will be taking part in Christmas Jumper Day on Wednesday 11 December to support Save the Children.  Children are invited to wear a Christmas jumper/top/something sparkly with their school uniform.

By participating, we not only bring joy and festive cheer but also extend our care, responsibility and compassion to children around the world who are in need. We encourage all children to wear their favourite Christmas jumper and bring a small donation of £1 to help make a difference in the lives of others.

Thank you for helping us to live out our values and make this Christmas meaningful for children near and far.

Year 2 – Christingle Workshop – Friday 13 December

Children in Year 2 will be making Christingles to reflect on how Jesus is the Light of the World.  Parents of Year 2 children are welcome to join their child at 2.30pm in the hall for this activity.

Rudolph Relay – Supporting Severn Hospice – Friday 20 December

We are delighted to announce that our school will be participating in the Rudolf Relay to raise funds for Severn Hospice, an organisation that provides vital care and support to those in need. This exciting event will take place on Friday, 20th December during the school day, and we encourage all children to join in the festive fun by wearing their best Christmas costume and bringing a £2 donation. Don’t forget to pack trainers for the relay race!

Each child will receive a certificate for taking part and a pair of reindeer antlers acknowledging that they’ve completed the hospice’s Rudolph Relay.

This event is a wonderful way for us to live out our school values:

  • Trust: Trusting in our community to come together for a good cause.
  • Respect: Showing respect for those who rely on the hospice’s support by raising funds to help them.
  • Responsibility: Taking responsibility for making a positive difference in the lives of others.
  • Perseverance: Encouraging children to do their best during the relay, embodying determination and effort.
  • Compassion: Demonstrating care and kindness by supporting a cause that helps people at their most vulnerable moments.

Together, we can make this a meaningful event and support the incredible work of Severn Hospice. Thank you for your generosity and enthusiasm!
