The Ironbridge Power Station cooling towers are due to be brought down this Friday (6th December) at 11.00am. Information has changed during the past few days and this is the latest guidance.
School will be open all day. The children will see the pantomime (Jack in the Beanstalk) in the morning and then be able to watch the live feed of the demolition in their classrooms if appropriate.
We have been given clear guidance that children should be kept inside throughout the event until the all clear has been given, 30 to 60 minutes after the blast. The manager of the demolition company explained what would happen during his presentation to the children on Monday afternoon. He made it clear that there will be a loud bang.
Dale End, Co-op and Wharfage car parks will be open at school drop-off time in the morning and again at pick-up time in the afternoon but closed between these times.
Access to school will be via Wellington Road/Dale Road or from Madeley Road Hill along Ironbridge High Street/The Wharfage only.
Thank you for your cooperation in helping us to work around this event.
