News from the Parish

This Sunday 24th September, there will be a Jesus and Me (JAM) session at St Luke’s, where the main service is Holy Communion, led by Reverend Okeke.

The service starts at 11.00a.m., with children of school age invited to come into the vestry for the JAM session after the first hymn and prayers.

The reading we will be using is 1 Peter 4:7-11, in which he talks about stewardship. He says: “Whatever gift each of you may have received, use it in service to one another, like good stewards.”

We will be drawing around our own helping hands and colouring and decorating them, as we think about how we may serve each other and help each other.

Then we will return to sit with the congregation before sharing our work and singing the closing song: “He’s got the Whole World in His Hands.”

We hope that children from the school may join us.

We would also like to say that the All Ages Service at school last Sunday afternoon, for which the theme was Forgiveness, was an enjoyable event. Thanks are due to Mr Wheeler for helping to set up and welcome people and thank you to Mrs Clements for taking part in the story about Joseph forgiving his brothers.

We look forward to sharing more details soon about our next All Ages Service.

Message from Mrs Dhaliwal

Dear Parents/Carers

It has been wonderful to see our children settling so well into their new classes after their first full week. We have been particularly proud to see how well our new starters have also settled into school life at Coalbrookdale. The kindness and compassion which has been shown to welcome new children has been lovely to see – our school values are certainly in action!

Teachers have been busy planning events for the year ahead and we will continue to share these dates with you as part of our newsletter. Do look out for any new events that are added in upcoming newsletters.

Children and teachers have been discussing our BeSMART Code rules. Please see attached the Behaviour Information Sheet for parents/carers within this newsletter for a snapshot on how we manage behaviour in school. It has been wonderful to see so many children proudly wearing their stickers and seeing so many Rainbow and Platinum awards being handed out already. Further information regarding our Behaviour policy can be downloaded from our school website.

Wishing you all a good weekend.

Mrs M Dhaliwal

Behaviour Blueprint

Message from Mr Wheeler

We are looking to expand our offer of experiences we can give to our children.  I am interested in any parents who have a particular skill or association with a business of club who can offer an after-school extra-curricular club at the school. This could be sporting, or non-sporting based.  Please contact the office or catch me on the playground if you can help.

We are looking for large pieces of material, soft toys, board games and books for calming spaces within school to extend our offer for all pupils to access learning and provide for their own health and well-being.  If you can help, please drop off at the school office.

Parents are reminded that the PE uniform is shorts or jogging bottoms (black or navy blue), t-shirt (white or navy blue (available with school logo or plain), a jumper or fleece (white or navy blue) and trainers.  During the colder months children can wear long sleeved skins tops under their t-shirt and tracksuit trousers or long leggings (black), especially for outdoor lessons/clubs, to help keep them warm.  No football kit should be worn.

New staff

Message from Mrs Cox:

I am excited to work with Year 3 and the Coalbrookdale Community this year. I am looking forward to running yoga club during the second half of each term this year and taking Year 3 on some fun trips.  This year I will be leading music and will look forward to seeing you all at our whole school events.

At home I am keeping busy with my new kitten called Cosmo and my two children. I also love to go for long runs at the weekend and look forward to sharing my passion for running at sports day later in the year! Come and say hello if you get the chance!

Message from Mrs Faulkner:

I am an experienced teacher who has taught in a wide range of schools in a variety of places.

I have clear expectations of all children in my class to always try their best and to be kind and considerate to one another.

Away from school. I enjoy walking, wild swimming and aerobics classes.

Message from Mr Wheeler:

Hello! I know I’ve met many of you on the playground or had a chat on the phone but I want to introduce myself to you properly! As you know, I have started Coalbrookdale this year and I’ve already been made to feel incredibly welcome. I have been in education for 14 years, primarily as a Senior Leader and SENDCo in Birmingham, Staffordshire and Shropshire working with a wide range of communities and settings.

Away from school, I follow my football team: Plymouth Argyle, as well as play golf at a weekend (when time allows) and enjoy playing board and card games.

I am looking forward to this coming year and working with you all.

School Photographs

A photographer will be in school on Monday (18 September) to take individual photos of the children and siblings.  Photographs of siblings within school will be taken during the school hours along with pictures of individual children.  If you have children with pre-school siblings these family portraits will be taken before school in the hall.  Please come to the main doors from 8.30am.

If your child has PE/after school sports club on that Monday, they should come to school dressed in their uniform and bring their PE kit in with them to change in to.
