Private Music Lessons – Mrs Angus

Rosemary Angus is a music teacher who comes in to school to provide music lessons. She teaches piano, flute, clarinet, saxophone, voice and violin and has over 25 years’ experience in teaching, 12 years at Coalbrookdale Primary School.

With the start of a fresh academic year there are a few slots available during lunch times for music lessons. Lessons cost £6.50 per week for shorter lessons (15 minutes) aimed at the younger students up to year 3, and 30 minute lessons cost £13.00 per week aimed at older students from year 4 onwards. However, there is no strict rule over the length of lessons and sometimes older students take the shorter times to see what they think about a new instrument for a “taster session”. Please feel free to contact Rosemary on 07816 958048 and she will get back to you as soon as she is able.

Year 2 – Forest School

This year the children in Year 2 will be taking part in Forest School sessions on a Friday afternoon. It has been well documented that outdoor learning such as these Forest School sessions have a positive impact on children’s sense of well being. They not only develop a greater understanding of the natural world but also build confidence, resilience, develop decision making and independence. This is transferred in to the classroom environment and can have an impact on the child’s engagement and progress.

The sessions will be led by Mrs Amanda Liddle, who is a Level 3 Forest School Leader. The children will be taking part in a wide range of activities that will link with the classroom curriculum, particularly the science topic ‘Plants and Animals in our Local Environment’. These sessions will start on Friday, 9th September.

The children will therefore need to have a ‘Forest School Kit’ in school every Friday morning. It is essential for the Health and Safety policy that children (and adults) are suitably dressed. The children will need:

All year:
Waterproof jacket/coat –essential at all times of the year
Wellington boots/sturdy shoes
Gardening gloves (if possible)

Warmer months:
Lightweight long sleeved top to avoid scratches or nettle stings
Lightweight trousers- please do not send shorts
Sun hat
Sun cream

Please be aware that long sleeved tops and full length trousers are essential during the summer months to limit the chances of children getting stung by the nettles. Long sleeves in warmer weather will also prevent the sun burning their skin.

Colder months:
Fleece/sweatshirt/jumper/vest
Warm socks
Waterproof trousers
Gloves, hat, scarf

Please be aware all that these items should be clearly labelled with the child’s name.
