Friends News – AGM

As parents and carers of children at the school you are a member of the Friends of Coalbrookdale & Ironbridge Primary School. The Friends is the Parent Teacher Association for the school and our aims are to support the school to advance the education of pupils and to build relationships between parents and staff. We organise events throughout the year to raise money to support these aims. The Friends is a registered charity.

We are holding our AGM on Monday 3rd February at 6.00pm at school, to elect the committee, plan future events and our priorities for the year ahead. If you would like to be part of the committee you can nominate yourself for the following roles –

• Chair
• Secretary
• Treasurer
• Committee members

If you are interested and want to find out more just ask Deb Cheetham or Carolyn Healy.

Friends News

Thank you to everyone who came to the Summer BBQ and the Leaver’s Disco, and especially to those parents who organised the events. Together we have raised £720 for the Friends of Coalbrookdale, on top of monies raised directly by the school who provided the food for both events.

The Friends is a registered charity whose charitable objects are to ‘advance the education of the pupils in the school’ which we do by fundraising and working with the school staff to agree how best to use the money raised.

We will be having our AGM in September and need more committee members. It isn’t an onerous commitment and more details about what’s involved will be shared in the new term.

In the meantime have a fantastic summer!

Friends News – Christmas Fair

We raised a fantastic £819 from the Christmas Fair. Thanks to everyone who came!

The event could not have taken place without the help from parents. Thank you to Carolyn, Deb, Laura, Jen C, Sue, Vicky, Kelly, Lizzie, and Ruth for organising, and doing the big shops to purchase all our supplies for the Fair!! Also, thank you to the ladies above for their hard work on the night along with Dave C, Mark, Ty, Nina, Tim, Tamsin, Katrina, Matthew, Norman, Zowie, Scott, Maria, Mrs Blackburn, Andrew, Ania, Dave B, Lucy, and Julie. Plus, all the children and teachers who helped too! And thanks to Reverend Mann who drew our raffle and for his speech and prayer, which reflected our ethos as a Christian school.

These events do take a lot of planning and are hard work, the more people involved means that more of the helpers are able to spend time with their families and enjoy the evening. If you would like to get involved with Friends, please do contact us.

Thank you again and Merry Christmas!

Friends News – Christmas Fair – 30th November

The Christmas Fair is next Friday, 30th November from 5.30pm to 7.30pm. Thank you for bringing in bottles this morning, Friends spent the morning preparing them for the Tombola, there are some great prizes to be had!

There’s lots going on at the Fair, including a visit from Santa (in Reception) craft stalls (in Year 1) the popular bottle Tombola (in Year 2) along with craft activities, and in the staff room there will be a Selfie Photo Area! Festive food and drink and class stalls will be in the hall.

However, we’re still in need of volunteers. Instead of giving up your whole night, we’re asking people to lend a hand for an hour, that way everyone gets a chance to enjoy the fair with their families.

We still need:
1x person for bar 6.30-7.30pm
2x people for kitchen 6.30-7.30pm
1x person for Selfie area 6.30-7.30pm
1x person for mug decorating 6.30-7.30pm
1x person for cupcake & Gingerbread Men decorating 6.30-7.30pm
Any help setting up and clearing away would also be really appreciated.

If you can lend a hand, then please either comment on the post thread on the Facebook page, message the page or email jencedwards@icloud.com

Thanks for your support, we look forward to seeing you at the event.

DON’T FORGET – Bring a Bottle Mufti Day tomorrow

Don’t forget to send in a bottle for the Christmas Fair bottle tombola tomorrow. It can be a bottle of anything – shampoo, cordial, wine etc. The Friends committee will be on hand to collect the bottles on the way into school.

In return children do not have to wear school uniform tomorrow.

Friends News

Friends are meeting tonight (19th October) at The White Hart at 7.30pm for another Christmas Fair planning meeting. All are welcome to join us. We’ll soon be posting a list of ‘organising jobs’ and ‘on the night’ jobs to the Facebook page. If you think you could spare an hour to help with just one job organising or on the night, then your help would be much appreciated. If you’re not on Facebook but would still like to get involved, please email me at jencedwards@icloud.com.
Most of our planning now happens on our new Facebook group: F@C Planning and Committee. Everyone is welcome to join this friendly group, even if you’d just like to have a look at what we’re up to!

We’d also like to say to new Reception parents that you are all more than welcome to get involved too! If you have any ideas or skills that you could contribute to Friends, we’d love to hear from you.

Summer BBQ

We’ll be having a uniform stall at the Summer BBQ so please donate any items that are in good condition but getting a bit small for your child. There will be a box at the corner of the building outside the staff room window at drop off and pick up times for the rest of the week.

We will also have a pudding stall so donations of yummy puddings, bought or home made, are most welcome. Please bring these with you on Friday afternoon.

Setting up for the BBQ will start straight after school finishes and any help will be gratefully received. If any parents can help to cover one of the stalls for part of the event please let Carolyn Healy know – carolyn@redkitenetwork.co.uk or 07805 489296.
